Mine is original and has no electrical in the area.

I'm not going to replumb the air intakes if there is nothing wrong with it.

But like you said it gets wet in there thats not a good thing.
Plus that means fumes and heat from the engine room can vent up into the walls when you shut down another not so great affect.
I think this was a big error on Hatteras part and its very easy to box it off.
After I did mine the first year of owning her I felt a huge change in the heat of the salon.

I epoxied the floor and installed 2 inches of insulation and vapor barrier in the cabin so dont get the heat. It worked fine so far.

I'm having a problem with getting new windows and frames for this boat. I have planned all along to use a specific company that had a very good price and appeared to have good quality. I created thorough templates for them to use but after receiving their prints, which were based on my templates (which were perfect), there are a lot of areas which don't match up ...... so many, in fact, that I'm now afraid to use them. I've quoted another company that handles windows but their price was over 2 times greater. Does anyone have suggestions for a good window company that can make custom frames at a reasonable price?

I did brief research into windows a while back. I figured RV style windows that are used on many boats (clamp type) are the best way to go. Way better than the frame with fuzz tracks in it. I haven't moved forward, but here's a few places.

Further thoughts, if stainless is way more than aluminum....and it's all clamp install windows....much cheaper to just replace aluminum in 10-15 years if they go to crap.

Bomon is the company I was working with ..... and would love to give them the business (nice guys) but I'm scared that their prints are so different than my templates. I'm not overflowing with confidence at the moment.
