Not to stray too much, but water spots on black was my deciding point on custom tackle.
I build my own rods, and when I started with purchasing blanks, guides and threads, I wanted black rods. Threads to match boot stripe and interior, and gold guides.
My supplier said he always wanted white rods, because the salt spots blend in, and they always look new, even while trolling. He took me out on his boat and showed me his black rods with salt water spots, and they looked terrible as soon as we put them out.
So over the years, over 60 rods later, all white and look shiny going out, and coming home.
Could not imagine that black boat as soon as some salt spray hit it.
Have a great week all,
Tim
