    16v92 fuel consumption

    I was wondering if these are some realistic numbers on a 65c

    I'd say it's close, but that would be under perfect conditions of the hull bottom, wheels, motors, and calm sea's. A real boat with gear on board that's been in the water for a few months, In the Cruise RPM Range I would say the GPH #'s are a little under estimated and the speeds are a little over estimated. Not much but a little. I ran a 12V92 57 Viking Conv around all over the place and I believe at 2000 we burned about 90 GPH. My 45 Hatt with 6V92 at 2000 burns depending on load between 35 to 40 GPH. That's like 3.2 to 3.5 GPH per Cylinder. Multiply that by 32 Cylinders is 100 to 105 GPH at 2000 RPM.

    Lastly the speed numbers posted are probably on a new boat. I've seen newer 65's with the tunnels/Pockets 1994 to present do those numbers when light on gear and fresh bottom but more likely figure 1.5 to 2 knots slower at cruise and WOT under normal use. 2000RPM 25.5 to 26 knots and 29 to 31 WOT. For some reason some of them are a little faster than others. I never understood why, just what I've seen. This is based just from my expierience on them with no real technical support.

    Thanks for the reply, I kind of thought those numbers might have been a tad off,
    sales gimmick I'm sure. However trying to find a decent cat powered boat in the 65
    range is hard to come by unless I wanted to drop big time money on it.

    You just missed a 1998 CAT Open Bridge 3 Stateroom that sold in the Great Lakes for I believe in the high $400's. Was asking $499.

    There is a 4 Stateroom Enclosed Bridge for Sale in CA.

    And there are 2 in Europe currently for sale. But those are the only 3 I know of currently available.

    HMY has a 2003 Cat Powered 70C but that's asking $1 or $1.1 Million
    There a alot of CAT Powered 60's though.

    If all is right she will run as Tony described. 25-26kts @ 2000rpm but more like 110 gph. WOT is about 30Kts and 160gph

    Thanks for the replies, I am skeptical on buying one with 16v92's not so much about the fuel usage but the low hours between overhauls. I am very well aware that most that need rebuilt at 2000 hrs are run hard. That will not be my intention However I think that I will just wait my time and find a Cat powered that fits my family, at least step up to a more modern engine. Again thanks for replies.

    I completely understand why you want one with more modern power. Our 6V92's run and have been great but wouldn't compare to set of QSM11's in our boat. Unfortunately like 90% of the 65C's came with 1692's unless you purchase a later year boat.

    Where are you located, do you have a any draft restrictions, "Some Newer 65's 2000-2004 draw 10 to 11 inches more water", and do you have a budget your wanting to stay around? The CA boat was originally a South FL boat and I'd ran it a few time before finally delivering it to the ship that took it to the west coast. I'm not sure how she shows now but when I ran it approx 10 years ago it was nice and also the fastest 65 I had been on at that time.

    Cat power would be my choice too. However there are very few of them and they will cost at least 100k more than a comparable 65C. If you plan on running her slow, look for one with 12V92s. They'll run a bit slower than a 16V92 boat but will last longer and be easier to service.

    i do appreciate the replies, I have particulars that need to be met, 4 staterooms is a must. when i first started looking i was not to interested in enclosed bridge however after seeing a few ive have grown appreciative of them. i am in no rush in buying until the perfect deal arises. budget wise i would like to keep under 500k. thanks again for the replies.
