What windlass came on the boat? If Ideal you can get a new motor pretty easily. Or rebuild the whole unit. Much discussion the the forum about this.
I also have a NOS 12V Ideal ACW (V3C) never installed for sale if you are interested.

A maxwell rc10/8 replaced the rested out Galleynaid on Our 43 DC. About 4 years ago I paid about $1400 from Defender. The windlass and rope and chain rode has done the job without problems so far. I would recommend it to a friend.
