    Helm seat foot rest

    Has anyone built a foot rest in the lower helm seat of any hatteras? If so did you keep the spec's? Any photos?

    I built one for our 53MY that was a a 3/4" carpeted plywood box, open on the bottom designed to exactly fit over a medium sized portable cooler. Worked great and I needed a place to store the cooler. Sorry, I don't have pix or specs.

    I built two to fit over the seat posts on my covvertible fly bridge helm chairs. They are tri angular shaped and I got the size out of the West Marine catalogue. I glued up strips of mahogany and cut it to shape and beefed up around the edges with the same material, cut a hole the just big enough to fit the post and slid it over. They work well to take the pressure off and keeps my feet from swinging around.
