Maybe this one was built IN Hatteras, but it was not built BY Hatteras.

But I must say the interior paneling looks a lot like the paneling in my Hatteras.

I'm no expurt but I've seen some older wood boats with hatteras attached to the description. I suppose for a location with so many independent builders back in the day the best name for an old woodie is the geographic location it was built. There are quite a few 'down east' boats from many years ago that don't have a pedigree. Just known as down east. But yeah the New York build makes for an odd reason to add Hatteras to the description.

But what would be the point? Nobody in the market for a Hatteras is going to consider a wood boat. Nobody looking for a wood boat would pay attention to the Hatteras label. Would be about the same as advertising a Ferrari Pinto in AutoTrader for $1,999. Just makes the broker look dumb IMO.

I don't understand this. Clearly they know this isn't a Hatteras Yacht. I think maybe some ad copy got mixed up somewhere. As said above, there's no useful purpose at all in calling this a Hatteras. It isn't one, and the two markets are miles apart.

Randy, $1,999 is a pretty good price for a Ferrari Pinto--I paid a lot more than that for mine.

After the seller explained how rare they were, I paid cash on the spot so that no one else could snap it up. Only thing wrong were a few scratches, but he said they would buff out easily.
