I was at my boat over the weekend, and I noticed that the cutlass bearing was working itself out of the aft starboard strut. It looks like I have to replace it in the spring. Can anyone tell me if this is a do-it-yourself proposition? What would be the procedure if it is, or should I arrange a mechanic to do it?
Thanks
Martin

Re: cutlass bearing
Some stick out the back if the strut. There should be set screws holding them check to see if they are still there. Its not complicated. Just have to know how it should be done.

Re: cutlass bearing
How far out is it sticking? If its out far enough to get a pipe wrench on it and twist it out its not a bad job. If you have to pull the shaft and split the old bearing to get it out its still not complicated its just a lot of work.
