Beautiful Model Replica of the Classic 53 MY

    Hi All,

I was poking around and came across this site:

    http://www.shipmodel.com/

Stunning work. Was hoping they might have or be able to create a 48 YF for me.

Here's the email response from the Gallery Director.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Dear Gene,

    Thank you for your inquiry.

The price of the 53’ Hatteras model is $7,800.

Unfortunately, Mr. Henninger has retired form his model making career and we would only be able to help by using another artist.

    Kindly,

Should I ever retire from boating and sell my beloved 48, I think I might be willing to pay that much for a timeless keepsake from a gifted artisan such as this.

Re: Beautiful Model Replica of the Classic 53 MY

Gene, I have a model of a 46 Hatteras convertible which was made for me by Captain's Models, Inc, which I believe is in Cottage Grove, OR. They did a nice job, but it took forever to get it. I believe they were working on a 53 MY at one point, which they tried to sell me- I think the man who commissioned it had pulled out and lost his deposit, but they were stuck with it. If they still exist, it might be worth asking.

There is also a company called (I think) Seacraft Classics, who have done some Hatteras models. (One of their stock items is a model of Knit Wits which I plan to buy one of these days) You might also ask them about a model Hatteras. They do very nice work as well.

Model ships and boats are at least as addicting as the real thing. If you are ever in the Hampton Roads area, visit the Mariners' Museum there. Plan to spend the day. Their model collection is one of the best in the USA.

hmmmm..... The scale model yacht is 36 inches in length and may be ordered as fully operational with radio control, featuring twin screw, counter-rotating props... and lights !

Finally, a HATT that even I can afford to own and operate! (assuming it's less expensive than the 53' at $7,800)

the 46 convertible model I have is very well done, but fragile- most of the little cleats are broken. Really if you're going to have one of these, it belongs in a case, which I didn't know at the time.

    You know.....

They make models of cars, trucks, ships and airplanes.... why not boats?

I wonder if you've just found a new product for them.
