    Re: 1979 46C/ 2010 Major walking issue

Tom will be able to help you more than any of us can. I would think your problems are being exaggerated by the change in wetted surface and center of gravity. I had a '74 46C with the full keel that was repowered with 6V92's Never keel walked and she could hit 26-27kts. Cruised her at 21-22kts regularly. Is there any change in the ride with full fuel or low fuel? What reduction gear and what size wheels are you using? Any other modifications to the hull? I would think adding 5" to the keel would increase the problem but getting rid of the flat surface sounds like the right move.

love to see pics of the repower and drives.

Gorgeous refit, My first Hatt (3 boats ago now) was a 46 series II. While mine was in great shape and made 21knts with my 71's she wasnt anywhere near as sweet as your ride.

    Enjoy her.

I am a little confused. Did you cut the keel down or just round the bottom. By "forwarding sea" do you mean a following sea?
I have a 1982 46HP with the factory cut down keel. I believe it was shortened by about 6 inches and rounded on the bottom. It is stable as a rock up to about 27 to 28 kts then it will lean but can be corrected by tabs.
The 46 does slide around in a following sea and your tower might just make it worse.
Agree with Tom Slane being the person to sort it out.

Beautiful boat I see a lot of attention to detail.

Here is a pic of the keel.

And it's worse with the bigger keel. 5-7ft following seas will definitely push the stern around. Almost feels like the stern was pushed from the side. She'll do the same thing in strong currents. She should track straight as an arrow in a head sea. The weather in Key West has been blowing out of the East for entire month. Have you run her on a calmer day to compare the ride?
