It sounds like your magnets are getting tired. Try moving the u like or 2 forks like object that the holds the movement. It should rotate adjusting the needle. Use a small screwdriver and use it as a miniature pry-bar Be careful you could break it. Adjust it by trial and error. Don't worry about where the needle starts at, you only want the needle to read correct under power. Most, I say most meters adjust this way. The dab of red paint is locking the movement adjustment.
