    air compressor

    Why do the 8v71s have air compressors on them? Does anybody know?

    The original air horns and windshield wipers are serviced by the air system. Also the compressor can be used to pressureize the hydrolic steering tank (30 psi, I believe). Lastly, it's great for inflating all the water toys.

    That is a HUGE drag on the engine for air. The port engine is locked up and I suspect that its the compressor or the water pump. Thanks for the quick response. I just bought a project boat. 50 MY. No experience at all with boats. Lots of experience with busses. This is going to be an amazing experience. I have been watching this forum awhile and the information here is vast.
