Thread: Fox vs cable

    Fox vs cable

Interesting how Fox all of a sudden wants to charge for the local broadcast channel that is free to air with an antenna. I don't believe any other network gets paid for the over the air channels but Fox can't seem to make it in advertising anymore. Must be they spent too much and now need us to bail them out. Hell they bought sports, out from under the other networks at huge costs. Then they cut the staff and budget of the events. I know this because I work with them and their production companies. Lots of good people lost their jobs so they could cut back because they spent way too much on the rights.

FYI the must carry law allows them to hold back their signal if they want to charge for it but if it were to stay on for free the cable operators must carry it.

Fair and Balanced comes at a price! Don't believe me, ask any taxpayer. We're on the road to socialism and I for one will support Fox in trying to save our capitalistic country

    Re: Fox vs cable

I have no problem paying for fox news and other premium channels. They want to get $1 per month per subscriber for their on air commercial channel.

I will pay it if they become commercial free. I do not think I need to pay for watching commercials.

Fox sports went too far on their spending spree and I do not need to bail them out.

It's their content, let them set the price.

I'd be ok with ala-carte pricing but only if the stations I buy via this method are 100% commercial-free.

The fact is that there is very little worth paying for at all on cable any more. The networks are dying not because of pricing or costs, but because what they produce has turned into utter crap.

Thats what they are trying to avoid. I will not pay for the off air stations and they are trying to bundle in in with the premiums so we have little or no choice.

If I thought I could get Fox on one of the new digital side-band antenna transmitted channels, would be glad to do it, provided I could avoid the $60/mo for cable. The Big Ten channel (a Midwest thing) would be another I would pay some bucks/month for off air feed.

Craig are you saying you have no problem paying for the same programming that they send out over the transmitter for free?

The FOX/Time Warner Cable dispute has been settled.

Glenn Britt, chairman, president and CEO of Time Warner Cable, said, "We're happy to have reached a reasonable deal (with FOX) with no disruption in programming for our customers."
