Simple solution: Once Iran announces within the next month or two that they have an atom bomb, we will WAKE UP to find CHINA has supported them (and virtually all other enemies of the U.S. around the globe) with billions of our "free trade" dollars, that wiped out our manufacturing. The "world is flat" people will be thrown under the bus, or back to reading books on strategic power concepts. Destroying your nation's manufacturing ability for short term executive bonuses is $%#*&, even the Chinese thought we were crazy.

Good excuse for the U.S. to DEFAULT on all Chinese held U.S. debt, eliminating half our national debt, and over a third of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac paper. Also put capital controls on them, preventing Chinese withdrawal of assets from the U.S.

Nixon dropped the gold standard in the early seventies (due to high U.S. war and social spending debts), time for us to do the equivalent now. I will not cry for the U.S. companies that will have their Chinese "partners" grab the U.S. owned Chinese manufacturing plants in retaliation.

Defaulting on Chinese held paper NOW is better than later, before the Chinese start dumping U.S. assets even faster than they are currently.

I believe Iran has many bomb casings that currently have at least a simplified "gun" atomic detonation sequence. They are probably too big to be mounted on any of their missiles.

And of course they have at least dirty bombs from atomic waste material.

What I believe they are really reaching out for is multiple EMP devices that are smuggled into the US or several concealed massive ship delivered dirty bombs like the rumored one the Somali pirates captured.
