The military and the running of it has nothing to do with public entitlement. And yes...all the aforementioned public programs are a disaster.that is why I would never trust the Government with something as important as my healthcare. The fact is that we have the finest healthcare in the world and anyone living in a foreign country that can afford to do so comes here for treatment.
What we do need is the a total shake up of how insurance companies enroll individuals and what and how they pay care providers. Tort reform would also bring down the cost of healthcare for all of us and needs to be instituted.

[QUOTE=Westfield 11;108099]I don't know, ask George Bush, he's the one who just nationalized the banks. Does not he lead the Republican party? Is he not still the Republican President?

Uh, the Dems have had the Congress and the Senate for two years now. Two of the three branches of Govt sounds like the Dems are and have been running things to me.

Re: NOBAMA endorsed by Middle East terrorists
[QUOTE=Bertramp;108126] This is not the country that I would like, but I'm doing just fine. We have had one of the longest periods of economic expansion in this country ever. Remember Carter? Other than the slight downturn in 1991, it has be a great ride since then. Even now, we are not in a recession. We haven't even had one quarter of negative GDP. That's a fact.
But like I said, the shift to the left over the last 30 years has caused increased costs to businesses and thus the loss of jobs to other parts of the world that are more business friendly. We can't live on an economy of lawyers and bureaucrats. Get government out of the way and let us grow, produce, innovate, and prosper.
Will this happen with McCain? No, not only is he to progressive, but he will have a Dem congress. Will it happen with BO? No way, since he will only promote the socialist/community organizer agenda. My point is that we have to choose amongst the "two evils" and in this case I choose some balance along with an assurance of a strong national defense. Hopefully the rest of the country will wake up and throw the rest of these bums out in future elections after they see what a mess they have made.

Re: NOBAMA endorsed by Middle East terrorists
This is old, but it exactly explains how we went down this path. A 1985 interview with Yuri Bezmenov, a Soviet born, KGB trained subverter lays out the techniques that led up to what's happening today. The Soviet Union may be gone, but communism's tentacles are still at work.

Re: NOBAMA endorsed by Middle East terrorists
Up to 2 years ago the economy was ruining pretty well even with the housing bubble. All of a sudden a change came over the country and the sh&t hit the fan economically. Could that have been the congress becoming predominately democrat?

Re: NOBAMA endorsed by Middle East terrorists
I just cannot imagine how congress could be the culprit. Everyone swears it is all George Bush's fault. Surely you don't find Nancy Pelosi should share the blame, do you? I am sure this whole mess will straighten out by Feb. 1 2009 with Barak Hussain Obama as our president. Hang on folks....This won't be a nice ride!!Maynard

Re: NOBAMA endorsed by Middle East terrorists
Wow, do any of you guys have even the most basic knowledge of civics and economics? If so, will you post something?
This is a superb forum for boating, but the ignorance of how our government is organized and how the economy functions (or not) is pretty staggering. I'll have to avoid clicking on political posts in the future. Whew!
... and, by the way, I'm voting for McCain (well maybe Barr just for the heck of it since I am registered in Texas)

You can't free trade with countries that don't have the same pay scale as us. Until the scales balance the country will continue on a down hill slide. Its the elimination of the Cass system. Get rid of the free trade. You can thank Clinton for the free trade bill.
