53 on Ebay: anyone know this boat

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BEST-...QQcmdZViewItem

Not even a bid? Says rebuilt engines, new paint. looks fair. What are these bringing now? CC certified?

Wow, $99,900 and no reserve. It doesn't look too bad either. I think we'll see more deals like this in the next year.

I know the boat. And yes, we are going to see a ton of deals like this come around. They have already started. When boats are not used or maintained like people think they should be, it is reflected in the price.

Re: 53 on Ebay: anyone know this boat

And from one "new prospective buyer's" perspective...

1600 miles to Knoxville Tn (conservative)
    10 mph (upstream...maybe less?)
160 hrs total motoring (very approx)
    times 35 gph equals....

    5600 gal of diesel

    times 6/gal equals...

$33,600 dollars in fuel alone. From one area of the southeast to another area of the southeast.

If these numbers are any where "in the ball park", I don't see how in the world these numbers cannot affect prices of these boats...

I ran my 58TC from Mobile to Chicago last year. 12-71Ns at 1400 rpm gave me 11.2 mph at 16 gallons per hour (total). It wasnt as bad as I thought, but fuel has doubled almost, since then. $3.79 then and around $5.25 now. ws

No way. It would be 160hrs at 10gph for 1600gal at $4 (maybe less). Total cost to move would be around $6000. That's less than the licensing and sales tax.

Re: 53 on Ebay: anyone know this boat

Are my estimates of fuel burn that much over-estimated then?

I talked to the broker on this boat, and he's the one to said to figure 35 gph. you're sayin' that's twice what it'll really burn...in your experience anyhow?

(maybe he just doesn't know that much about these engines? it's hard to argue with knowledgeable, personal experience as you have since you've done it)

    35gph at 14kts or 10gph at 9kts. You decide.
