Tropical Storm FAY dumped a TON of water in N.Fla last week.
On our dock two boats with rain guages totalled 22.6 in. each in three days. Friends of ours just south of Daytona Beach totalled 37 in.
The wind guages also showed gusts to 67 mph and a steady wind of 40-45 mph for over 3 hrs FRiday morning.
Thursday night and all day Friday we got the major wind and rain. I was up from 4AM Friday till almost midnight adjusting lines of the boats at my marina. (3 others helped).
About 10 AM Friday we noticed two small boats across from us taking on a major list. Both have been abandoned by the owners and the marina there was going to sell them in Sept at auction.
I know one of the boats has been there at least 5 yrs.
I contacted the mgr of "this other marina" and told him of the two boats conditions. His reply was "Don't worry about them." So we didn't.
But 3 of us DID sit on the end of our dock and watched the one boat sink (about a 30' Bayliner type). That was Friday.
Someone did call the USCG about the boat but now, it's about 4:45 Monday, the boat is still leaking gas and oil.
We had no boats damaged in anyway.
And gee, it's raining and thundering again as I type this......
