    hatteras 53 on Ebay

    A 1973 Hatt 53 MY was on Ebay the last couple of days. One of my boat buddies took a look at her for me... and said she was a decent boat. There were 9 bidder, 26 bids with a high bid price of $71K. Did not meet the reserve.

    Also noted that the 1980 Chicago area boat on Ebay was bid to $199k did not meet reserve. ...only 1 bid on that boat.

    Can't figure this market out...

    A lot of the folks buying (or bidding) on ebay are going to be from all over the place in location. As a result, they tend to not bid as seriously as you would if they saw the boat and did a sea-trial. What ebay does for boats is that it advertises it and if someone is REALLY serious, they go and look at it.
