Re: 2018 Northeast Rendezvous
Just learned of this Rendezvous today. Made my reservation through DOCKWA and it is "pending" so I should have confirmation by tomorrow. My wife and I look forward to meeting you all on E-dock (in my DOCKWA reservation, I requested docking with the Hat Owners Rendezvous which I understand is on E-dock. Will update when we get confirmation.
This will be our first Hatteras Owners Rendezvous since we bought BANDIT a few years ago (yes, this is Mark's BANDIT). 1965 Hatteras 34 Convertible hull #34C-004.

Re: 2018 Northeast Rendezvous
The Rendezvous always marks a high point for the Summer! I'm going to be at Champlin's 7-19 to 7-27 and then heading over. If anyone else at Block that week give a shout out. Also, I changed name of boat from Mirage to Exodus (the only sane way out of Long Island is by boat after all!). Got the whole family with me and Kelly is getting a hotel room in Greenport.

Scott check the dates again. The rendezvous is July 27-29. Are you going to Champlins from Greenport?

Re: 2018 Northeast Rendezvous
Ha! was looking at June calendar - corrected. Straight from Champlins to Greenport.

Re: 2018 Northeast Rendezvous
IIRC Brewers has a shuttle into Greenport, right?
Also, just so I'm clear, Saturday dinner is BYOB. Bring your own Barbecue?

Re: 2018 Northeast Rendezvous
OK ... as the newbies to any Hatt Rendezvous, Claudia & I want to have fun and come prepared. I understand we are doing a group BBQ (but the BBQ is bring your own) ... and then bring something to share with 40 people.
Have we got the logistics right?
Going out to load BANDIT up for the trip tomorrow. Might stop in Montauk for lunch with friends there if we don't get slowed too badly by fog coming out of Newport, RI.
See youse guys at Happy Hoursssss Friday PM circa 18:04. (-;

Re: 2018 Northeast Rendezvous
Looking forward to seeing everyone!
Just bring an app or contribute something toward the bbq!.
No need to bring food for 40 or so people.
We each bring something and will cook all together and spread it out on a buffet E Dock style bbq!

This looks like it will turn out very well. I hope someone posts some photos to encourage other regions to Rendezvous

Re: 2018 Northeast Rendezvous
Years ago there were plenty of smaller local get togethers around here. 6 to 10 hats anchored out in the river over the weekend was common. Today we dont have the same group. Many sold their boats or worse. Also not as many convertibles getting together and talking fishing. More of the cc crowd.

Not to hijack this thread, but I would be interested in a raft up or Rendezvous here or within 100 miles. There are also about 25 other Hatteras' here in Daytona Beach that have mentioned to me about doing something.
Scott, if you or someone wants to plan something I am in, and I can talk to some others and gain interest.

Re: 2018 Northeast Rendezvous (weather hold for BANDIT)
Weather hold for BANDIT. A combination of persistent fog and the posted Small Craft Advisory kept us in Newport, RI today. I don't enjoy a 3-foot chop on the nose for 3 plus hours. Our plan is to head out tomorrow morning ETA about noon Saturday.
Sorry we will miss the cocktails tonight. Already sent the dockmaster an e-mail advising him of the delay.

Re: 2018 Northeast Rendezvous
I'm back jn my home port, In my wake I left old friends and new, I had a great time. The BBQ was great, to many choices, even on my third pass.many thanks to the many cooks. And the thoughtfulness on Nick to have a sheet cake to celebrate the birthdays of Cliff, Dan and Mike was awesome.
Not that long ago, I think 7 maybe 8 years, I was the new guy. And when I
I arrived I was welcomed with an extended hand, a nice feeling. My son found young friends to engage and looked he forward to next year. Now I am a part of the group, hand shakes and kisses when we arrive, a warm feeling.
I don't know how many Hats arrived, those that did had fun.
I didn't take many photos, those that did, please post them.
I'm looking to next year, on Block Island.
If you never attended a NE Rendezvous you should!!

Re: 2018 Northeast Rendezvous
So it looks like another Northeast Rendezvous is in the books.
It was a great get-together as it has been many times. A lot of old friends, and a lot of new ones this time around as well. Thanks everybody who participated and made '18 one for the record books.
Thanks to all who contributed. As usual I was blown away by the hospitality, the food, the cocktails (Disclaimer: What happens at the Rendezvous, etc...…)
The food,.....OMG the food! There is some fabulous culinary talent here!
I know pics of a bunch of people standing around don't really convey the feeling, but this is just a great place to hang out. You can just meander and pick up with any group that's enjoying the festivities and chat with them like you've known theses people for years.
Rev Nick gave the invocation:

The legendary "E" Dock:
http://i68.tinypic.com/k06iw0.jpg
There was a great buffet that cost a lot of effort, but well spent:
http://i63.tinypic.com/2zsvhir.jpg
We're not going to talk about the cocktails, but I woke up with some chick I didn't know looking at me:
http://i66.tinypic.com/jt79qp.jpg
But seriously, I've met some of the best people I've known in my life at these things.
Participate. Organize one. Or just arrange for a few people from the HOF in the local area to meet for a dinner to get to know each other. Knock on the hull of another Hatt at your marina and say hi. You won't be disappointed.

Re: 2018 Northeast Rendezvous
I've been to a NE get together years ago with my son. What a great time we had.
Tim if we can't get a floating get together we should at least grab some adult beverages when I'm in town again.
I have a few customers in Daytona who are either in the Bahamas or down here at the moment. I should be back up there in a few weeks.
I thought about running up for a vacation but this year may not allow it schedule wise.

Re: 2018 Northeast Rendezvous
No matter what side of the US you call home the Rendezvous/cruise outs all look the same when it comes to eating on the dock. Boaters will never go hungry. Love this type of event.

Sounds like a great time as usual. I opted for an offshore tuna trip instead, but as it turned out, I didn't make that run either...

So Jim you have the chickens in the anchor locker or a spare state room?
It was a Great weekend as always and it was Nice to meet some new members and the return of Bandit with new owners. The amount of food choice's was just over the top and you couldn't even get through half of them.
Thanks for the cake Nick and taking care of everything I think you will do great next year also :D

Re: 2018 Northeast Rendezvous
Too all our new friends ... thank you so very much for the wonderful welcome! So glad Dan filled us in with some of the pertinent history on BANDIT which I knew little about. Great pool time; non-stop mudslides! Thank you for those and all the nice comments about BANDIT! So ... I see someone mentioned Block Island in 2019. Is that locked in? If so, is there a time slot being considered? If any of you all get to Southport, NC area ... we have guest rooms at our home in St James Plantation!

Re: 2018 Northeast Rendezvous
It was great to meet you and your wife and see the Bandit again as well.
An ad hoc committee was formed and it was determined to set the time and location as August 2-4, 2019 at Payne's Dock, Block Island.
Mark your calendars!

Re: 2018 Northeast Rendezvous
It was so great nearly everybody being together on the famous E dock! I had one of the best times in the past 9 or so Rendezvous as a result. I'm usually stuck sticking around boat due to swarm of young kids on board, but because party was right off the port stern…. and an understanding wife, much oversight alleviated. What a group of kindred spirits, half the boats from 1960’s, the rest pretty much early 1970’s. This year was a fantastic turnout, including the return of Bandit and her new owners who are really Great people. Nifty how a forum tucked off in the corner of the internet can bring such lasting friendships.
