Or trade for a cool airplane
Actually over it, at 318 ci.
Did I miss the horsepower? Don't see it anywhere.
I'd still like to know the story behind how those particular engines ended up in that boat. From the 1991 brochures archive here.

There has to be a story. Wonder if the original owner worked for Covington or Penske or someplace with a strong relationship to Detroit Diesel and didn't want the Cats.
I asked a lot of these questions when I bought it and was offered the following: “The boat was special ordered with Detroits with the idea if major work was ever needed the Detroit’s could be repaired or rebuilt in place where the Cats would have to be removed from the boat.” So the next question was asked: why cannot the Cats be replaced in the boat? “Detroits are designed so that cylinders can be replaced unlike a Cat that would have to be removed for cylinder work”. Then my next questions was: That does not seem like a big deal to me? “If you think about the cost and time to remove the bridge to crane the motors out and back in then re-install the bridge it will be a big deal”. Seemed like even a better boat then to me.
I have great interest. Do you still have boat. Engine hours? Gen hours? Where is it docked? Please use private email to contact me. WWGilman@aol.com.
