Re: 1969 Chris Craft Roamer 46 refit
Since the insulation worked out well on some ugly douglas fir marine ply in the galley, I decided to try a slightly modified approach to some pretty African mahogany ply for the aft stateroom. Good news...it worked!

Re: 1969 Chris Craft Roamer 46 refit
When I had the bus foamed, it came out to the depth of the ribs and we just cut it flush with a hand saw blade. I was surprised to see that you didn't lay it on that thick.
Re: 1969 Chris Craft Roamer 46 refit
Looks lovely. No surprise there. So you are starting on the engine room?
Re: 1969 Chris Craft Roamer 46 refit
Yeah, Jim. That's been the plan all along, since it just gets hotter the higher up you are. With the ER hatches out and a fan running, it actually cools the salon...poor man's AC. lol
Sky, how deep were the frames in your motor home? One of the foam guys said more than 2" isn't really necessary. I've got ~2" in the aft stateroom ceiling and ~1" in the walls.
Re: 1969 Chris Craft Roamer 46 refit
Q, are you spraying that stuff yourself? where did you purchase it? any special equipment? i have some small areas i would like to do. not big enough to call out the professionals, but also not enough to buy a bunch of special tools. thanks, bigbill
Re: 1969 Chris Craft Roamer 46 refit
He is spraying it himself. He probably looks like a Yeti by now LOL.
Seriously, Q's thread and the links he posts are very much worth looking at. This is a huge job and he's doing it all the right way despite setbacks that would have knocked a less determined person out of the running altogether.

I think most of what we did was about 1.5 to 2". I guess I didn't realize that those ribs were that beefy.
Re: 1969 Chris Craft Roamer 46 refit
I would have liked to apply 2" throughout, Sky, but I think the advertising is a bit optimistic on coverage. Plus, the cans were too hot, so expansion might not have been optimal on the first set.
bigbill, I used Tiger Foam.

I guess golf didn't work out for him. Well, it's good to branch out.
