I like that Robert you actually stamp the number right on the hull. 😂

Hi Rusty,
When I bought my Hat I sent my hull number information to Vicky Couch at Hatteras and and her what my Hat's hull number (HATDD377B989) number represented. Here is her reply:
HAT-COAST GUARD ASSIGNED FOR HATTERAS
DD-MODEL DESIGNATION (IN THIS CASE 40 DOUBLE CABIN)
377-HULL NUMBER-ORDER OF DELIVERY.
B-MONTH OF MANUFACTURE (B-BEING FEB)
9-LAST NUMERAL OF THE LAST YEAR OF MANUFACTURE
89-MODEL YEAR
There were 86-40DC built between the years 1986-1989. Your boat was the 77th 40DC built during this time.
Hope this answers your questions.
Kindest Regards,
Vicky Couch

So the number 377 in my boats hull number did not represent the number of 40 DC's series 1 made but the order of delivery. Now Hat changed its hull numbering system so the numbers of earlier boats may represent something different than my numbers do. So should I sign off with a hull number of 377 or 77 representing the 77th 40 DC ever made?
