The center piece of my bridge is the Northstar 957. It is a fantastic unit except that the the HV screen driver dies every year and I have to perform CPR. They had a very unconventional cutout size so a replacement would be painful. I'll have to face that when my stock of driver boards runs out. The screens on two of my three Furuno Navnets finally gave out and I am doing a repair on those as well.

It's like not giving up your 19 inch trinitron.
Come on guys it's 2017.
Look at the new 8617 screens. 1920 x 1200 resolution. Sweet set of features. $$$$$
Re: Electronics Recommendations & Resource
No discussion of PC driven displays with software such as Nobeltec or Rose Point. Loaded with features, constant automatic NOAA chart updates, anything you can imagine. I must admit the User Interface and operational details are more involved. I may be among the few if any that opt for the flexibility offered.

Re: Electronics Recommendations & Resource
In a year or two I'm planning to go furuno unless something changes. Garmin only allows proprietary maps. Furuno, choose your flavor. New furuno radar has big ship features. But my 1941 mk2 still chugging along.

LOL I often think that also I could tweak it out a lot faster with the knobs but when you do have it adjusted the new HD stuff is pretty sweat I just adjust it then I don't touch it again because it s not as easy with knobs.
I also vote Garmin love mine.
