Ang - What is it about Sanctuary that attracted sleazy boat dealings?
I recall about 10 years ago when much to your surprise, Sanctuary was listed on Yachtworld.
As I recall, you marched into the brokers office and asked "WTF?"

Wow, auntie maxie has completion, to all you Thurston Howell the 3rds, and captains hat wearing weirdos, you do realize these boats are not rybovichs or spencers,or buddy Davis, gossip all you want, speculate all you want, this boat is being put back in better than it was condition, using the best materials and the best workmanship there is, sorry it wont have runs in the paint or runs in the varnish, or bare wires hanging out ,the cables will all go in the tower pipes and secured properly, not just flopping about on the top, sea strainers will be installed because there are none, I take offense to the bondo and sticks remark, but I suppose that's what that goofball does ,I dont think the buyer will give 2cents for your uneducated guesses or assumptions, it's sad that you have nothing better to do than speculate and assume that the repairs are going to be done in the way you people are use to, I've seen some of your boats and it looks like Gilligan himself did the work, we dont use bondo, sticks,Chinese drywall lead paint ,tin foil, cheap resins, etc, that may be what people have done to you but that's your problem, I will not post on here anymore ,complete waste of time, for all you assumers and boat police, get a life, chase kids off your grass,or spend your time calling code enforcement on your neighbors for parking in the wrong spot, when this boat is done it will be 100% right, but there is always that guy that has to try and find something wrong, or find fault with something, you wont see that on this boat. Not wasting my time on this ridiculous cackling hen party, must be a Thurston Howell the 3rd or captain uniform wearing guy thing, but got a good laugh ,haters just have to hate. I can't wait to run into one of you gilligan's out on the water and I hope I get to pull up next to one of your Miami specials and compare!
Auntie maxie - competition, type didn't want the grammar police coming after me too
I guess our work here is done.
Goodbye David58my
Angela stated :
It was the cost of the repairs at Miami rates. They were going to have to paint the entire boat in order for her look right again and that alone was $98,000 for the yard to do it. Then there was the repair, replacement of salon and pilothouse floors that buckled, replacement of other things like some pumps, damaged cabinetry and some interior teak, etc. It added up and when it hit the $187,000 mark before the port transmission was even inspected (it came in contact with saltwater in the bilge), they threw in the towel and totaled it.
All this cost was for having a yard to it. I just don’t have the time to bite off all that work myself trying to do it on weekends. It was just too much.
So Davey, you are stating you are going to make the boat just as good or better than Angela had it? All of that and your asking price of $199,000? You my fine sir must only have one oar in the water.
I DO remember that! I remember that so many of you started calling on that listing. I think it was YachtsmanWillie had the most profound conversation with them as I think he was the first one to call. I think it was him. Everyone who called was told that “that” boat (mine) was under contract and “survey was next week”, but they had another listing you might be interested in. LOL
It's possible for him to repair it properly. Even at Miami rates the boat need about $200k in work. If he has a yard that's cheaper and faster 8t can be done for less. How much less is the question.
Also will the boats value be lowered in a resale situation because it's a Phoenix?
I don't fault the man for repairing her. Just be honest to what was damaged and what was repaired.
The reference to $5k plus a platform is a bit misleading right Randy.
David, or Ed, whatever you go by...the piping supporting the flybridge hardtop has baffles welded in it. You can’t just pass wires through it or I would have done that. That’s why I had temporarily tied the anchor/stern light wires up externally of that until I could fabricate a better solution - so I could still use the boat and have nav lights. I had a lot of ongoing upgrades in progress when the storm hit. Varnish was another one...was waiting for the right level of humidity (drop) and drier weather. Down here, we do interior work in the late summer and early fall and then move to outside work in late October. And, she does have strainers on the mains. They are external. They are called “speedos”. I had new screens for them that the diver was going to put on - ditto for the AC pumps.
I thought about deleting your post (I knocked out a couple of others) but I decided to leave it up so everyone can read it and get the true measure of who you are and how you express yourself.
That boat had years of care by someone who cared a great deal about her. The idea that you would set all that damage right, do it correctly, and then resell the boat, done right, is laughable. Frankly I don't think you could maintain your way out of a paper bag. If the boat's done right and you have independent documentation to prove it, post it here. We'll all be waiting to see it..
As to Gilligan, etc, we have professional captains and marine service pros on this forum with thousands of hours experience. You, on the other hand, got introduced to this forum by posting an incomplete, plagiarized, inaccurate, misleading and self-serving piece of crap as a listing to sell a boat that we know better than you do. At least three members of this forum are quite familiar with that boat. I don't think you know nearly as much about her as you claim, and as far as getting all the damage repaired, I think you have no idea what you are talking about. I'm keen to see the finished product- if it ever exists. I'm not holding my breath.
I heard a lot from your broker about surveyors and this and that. Well, there are surveyors and surveyors- we all know that. If you think a survey is so laudatory about this boat, post it here. We'd all like to see it.
