  1. Treating swim platform wood

OK, we're being hauled out Monday for a bottom job... Have pressure washed the swim platform so it's now nice and clean... I myself, like the natural look (mostly because it's less work for ME) but the admiral wants it "treated"... varnish? stain? oiled? What do the rest of you do with yours

  3. First And Last Boat... A Story Of Life, And Cancer

No, this isn't Hatteras related, but I think we can all relate to someone purchasing their first boat, and I dare say all of us have been touched by cancer, either directly or indirectly. With that, I thought I would share with you good people a little story I shared with Facebook friends and...

  4. Posting Pictures

I've never had any problems posting pictures but today, I can't get pictures to upload. After selecting pics, I hit upload and I get a red exclamation mark. I have plenty of room, I've made the pics all sizes but no luck. Any ideas...?

  6. KVH Bahamas Question

Last year on a sojourn to the Exumas, I received my Miami local channels in Nassau. This time, we're planning on the Abacos. I am thinking I should perhaps change my "location" to West Palm instead of Miami to enhance the likelihood of receiving DirectTv locals. Does anybody have any knowledge/...

  7. Florida Boat Insurance Question

My current policy on my 74 MY runs through October '17. In the past, I had broght the boat North and South each year. Accordingly, my cruising territory had a restriction which required the boat to be North of North Carolina between June 1 and November 1. However, I anticipate leaving the boat in...

  8. Party boats

Boy these Hatts are great party boats. We were on a club raft up 2 weeks ago and guess where the party was held. Had at least 20 people eating and drinking in comfort. We have one couple that have a 62 foot Devever, beautiful boat, but less entertaining space than our 53. John

  10. Strut Pro

Quick report. Just finished replacing two cutless bearings on my Tiara using the Strut Pro. It took all of 1 hour for both sides. Two years ago I spent 3 days doing one side. I did it the old fashioned way removing the shaft. The tool was well worth the $375. Very solid.

  11. Big SeaRays even have parts manuals!

Man, that must be really nice to be able to look in a parts book because your boat is exactly the same as every other one....just like a car: http://www.searay.com/boat_graphics/electronic_brochure/Company1729/1C1_24_74DEIPR74HE.pdf Easier to maintain, but still a SeaRay LOL

  13. Amazing Little New Boat!

The always excellent Palm Beach International Boat Show turned into one heck of a Wet T-Shirt Contest last Thursday! The winds howled Friday and Saturday...but so what...It was a great show anyway! On Saturday, I ventured cautiously up into the Florida Bible Belt for the annual Sunnyland...

  15. Where are all the March Madness fans

Have not heard any basketball talk. I spent 4 years at UCLA, one year with Alcindor and 2 years of Walton. Great times. No real standout team this year which makes for good games. Hope my Bruins can do something but am really just looking for some good close games. John

  16. Brewer acquired by Safe Harbor?

Interesting, Safe Harbor also recently acquired our current home port marina (Burnt Store in Punta Gorda). We love it here, 2 large yacht basins, great staff, beautiful development, reasonable $$. But the previous owners neglected her docks and infrastructure. A multi-million $$ capital...

  20. Lost My Daddy This Morning

Dad passed shortly after 4AM this morning. It was just the two of us, and I held him in my arms, told him everything would be okay, and that I loved him very much, one last time. The nurse had come in earlier and said he was getting close, so I called in the family. The nurse thought he had more...
