  1. How many were built

I am aware of three basic model of the 53' hulls from 1969 thru 1987. The classic, the ED and the C. Does anyone here have a quick reference to the totla number of the 15-10, 53 hulls built and how many were in each model? Are there additional models I am not aware of?

  3. duck deterrent

So I park or 58yf bow in and the ducks get much more brave as the season progresses. They decided my swim platform was an outhouse. I got tired of scrubbing and I have previously tried the rubber snakes and owls. So reading an online post I thought I'd try some small mousetraps. .. Well, this...

  5. 1963 Hatteras Convertible value

Good day all, I have a pristine 1963 Convertible that has been in the family since she was purchased new. She has been meticulously maintained and since her repower in 1982 with GM 8.2L diesels, has only seen 2000 hours put on her. I am putting her up for sale and was trying to see what I...

  6. Tool Bags

I have tried several tool bags for various purposes, over the years. So for grins, I did some good ole' Googling on tool bags. One brand had constant high marks called 'Veto'. Cheap they are not, but they have a 5 year 'no down time' guarantee, and they are very heavy duty and they don't fall...

  7. Difference between a 46' and a 52' Hatteras Sportfishing vessel

If you had the choice to buy either a 46' sportfish or a 52' sportfish, which would you buy and why? How much more fuel would you burn trolling at different RPM's, and at cruise speed?

  8. Has anyone traveled the Middle Bight of Andros Island?

Just wondering if anyone has ever crossed the Middle Bight, or any of the tidal channels that cross through Andros Island in a larger boat. If so, what was it like, describe the depth and/or tide situations. Thanks

  9. Tuna tower or no tuna tower on 46' - 52 Hatt sportfish

What are the pro's and con's of a tower on a sportfish charter fishing vessel ? How often and in what type of sea conditions is it viable to use. How often can the Captain operate the vessel from up there. What about communications with the fishermen in the cockpit? How much speed would be lost...

  10. Clayton NY Antique Boat Show

While PIZZAZ is hauled out for fresh bottom paint in South Florida, I took a trip up to Clayton NY for the Annual Antique Boat Show. Still one more day to go, Sunday August 3rd. I thought I would share a few images from the show and the Antique Boat Museum. The 1000 Islands are just beautiful...

  11. Extortion17 3years later.

This is the 3rd anniversary of the Chinook shoot down that killed 31 mostly navy seals. There was a thread on here I Think started by MIKEP speculating on the event. I couldn't comment then but my son was on scene flying support in the JSTARS. Apparently it was a hi altitude firefight/ambush in the...

  13. Parts questions on J&T 6-71TI

So far our trip from Charleston to Panama City has been flawless. Yesterday afternoon I noticed the Starboard temperature creeping up so I shut down to investigate. Bilge had anti freeze and coolant is pouring out the weep hole on the pump. Got on the phone and found a Mechanic and asked for a...

  14. New Drink Holders and Seat Cushions

We had an after work boat ride Wednesday and I noticed an unanticipated use for Lilly Marie's new drink holder. Old foam pool floats, Memory Foam, and Naugahyde stapled to plywood back board have worked out well for comfortable fwd deck seat cushions. Afternoon delight for...

  16. Salty Dog - Our 4 Legged Mariners

Hi All, I thought it would be fun to profile our salty canine and feline mates. I'll start off with our Wheaton Cairn Terrier Bella, shes turning 8 in August but still has the spring, endurance and energy of a puppy. She absolutely loves the boat in every way, however she hates to swim,...

  18. Proud new owner of a classic Hatteras

Living on the northern gulf coast my search for a 41' convertible took me to North Carolina last Sept. The owner had recently passed away after a long illness that struck shortly after starting the boat's restoration in 2007. Most of her mechanical workings had already been replaced including...

  20. BRIGHT LED lights!

My buddy down the dock just replaced his 18" bulbs on his 45' boat with the "FLED18R192" lights. It was amazing to see how much light they put out, heck almost too much. I would think the next size down would be all I need (6 lights instead of the 8). It would be a simple job to run a 12v source...
