  4. Question about portholes

We have two new neighbors, a 75 ft Hatteras and an 80 ft Hatteras. One is late 90s and the other is 2001. I have been on the 2001 and noticed that the only portholes are in the master stateroom. Also the portholes do not open. If you are down below there is no way out other than the stairs. I...

  5. Just doing my research...for now.

I've been lurking on here for a few days and thought I'd introduce myself. The Mrs and I recently decided that we want to get a yacht or trawler in six years. Why six years, you query? 1) Our home will be paid off free and clear by then. 2) I just recently purchased a new Kubota Tractor. It too...

  6. I'm sure I'm not the 1st to think of this but...

Does it make sense to be able to use the generator on the boat to power the house? I don't see how it would be a bad idea. With 20KVA available it should be more than enough power. Whole house size generators cost 20-30K......and that's a lot of coin if you already have one in a boat behind the...

  7. Window question

I've removed one of the two fixed windows on the forward trunk cabin, and after I get it cleaned up and reseal the glass to the aluminum frame, I need to reattach it to the fiberglass. The trunk cabin has quite a bit of fore and aft curvature, and the frame needs to have some significant force...

  10. Another dinghy project

Some of you may remember last winter my son and I were bored and considering making our soft bottom dinghy a hard bottom. Well we found a Nautica 1997 dinghy and trailer for $1500.00 in March of this year and bought it. Well, work has been crazy and we didn't start working on it until after July...

  15. most popular boat brand here

At the CYCA rendezvous in St Michaels. There are at least four Hatteras yachts here, just in our group. More across the harbor. Also several Chris-Crafts, including a gorgeous Roamer in our club. And plenty of rain intermittently as well, but still a good weekend all in all.

  18. 1981 48 MY remodel

We are proud owners of a 48 Hatteras MotorYacht, but are in need of a second stateroom with a full size bed (or close to a full size) . Is anyone aware of a project where the forward stateroom did away with the bunk set-up and remodeled to a single bed. Not sure it can be done, but I felt like it...
