  2. Sticky Thread Sticky: 2017 North East Rendezvous

Do we want to do a North East Rendezvous this year? The current baby of my family is now 7 months old so a little easier to travel this year. I'll organize if I can make chosen destination and date. Anywhere good on the south shore? We haven't done that.

  3. Deck box identification

I have one deck box on the bow of my 41 TC. It came with the boat when I bought it. It doesn't seem to have any markings as to who built it. I'd like to acquire another one to match. Does anyone recognize this box and perhaps know who built it and when I can get another one? Thanks in advance!

  4. Tennessee River Eclipse

The boy and I took the Allison to "Gizmo", a local island hangout spot to watch the eclipse. It was awesome to say the least! It sure confused all the critters, that's for sure. https://youtu.be/sG4Jmar3PVQ

  5. Flooring project

Didn't want to hijack the other flooring thread. When I'm done, the only carpet on the boat will be the master stateroom and salon. Floor is being finished in flooring polyurethane in semigloss. In the pics, some of it is unfinished.

  10. We just closed on our new-to-us 58MY!

We just closed on our 1979 58MY! Is there a secret handshake we get to learn now?!:) After a few months of searching for a 53-58 on the east coast, we fell in love with a 58MY in Fort Lauderdale. It was previously known as "Roto-X", and more recently, "Seas The Moment." We plan to dock her in...

  12. Detroit Diesel 692/435 hp Smoking

Our port 692/435 hp is smoking badly. We recently (15 hrs. Ago) replaced all of the injectors with Reliabuilt 9215. She ran great for type past 15 or so hours then on a return trip the port engine started to make a lot of black smoke. We throttled down to 1100 and limped in. We checked both...

  14. Since nothing is ever easy

I was completing the repacking of rudder stuffing boxes this weekend which had to include replacement of the 1/2" BRASS studs due to some knucklehead using stainless nuts which resulted in corrosion that wouldn't allow the nuts to move. Cut three of the four in half fairly easily but the last one...

  16. 36 Sedan deck mounted engine room vent

My 1987 36 Sedan Cruiser has a deck mounted scooped engine room air intake with a hose that goes to the top of the engine room. It is an obvious seawater catcher. Note that I also have two scoop vents on the hull side, one with an engine room fan and the other as an exhaust. The fan and exhaust...

  19. Medical Marine First Aid

The World Health Organization publishes a hardback text called "International Medical Guide for Ships" that is very complete---400 pages plus. Costs $100 plus from them---$4.00 from abebooks.com. I have used it while cruising in the Caribbean. The book also lists required medicines. In the...

  20. Andrew 25 years ago

You just never know. No one expected Andrew to be the strength or tract it took until too late. I flew the first private relief flight into Homestead and the destruction was comparable to a nuclear blast. Never let your guard down.
