  1. Smart plug

I’m finally at a point where I want to clean up the power inlet to my 53my. I’m thinking of going with the smart plug design and using the breakers they offer to match. It’s about a 3k upgrade to the original with the fuses. I question if the smart plug design is still a viable option. I don’t...

  2. wing doors drain problem 58' 1972 Hatteras Yachtfish

The drain, actually partly under the wing door frame, is always clogging up whenever there is a lot of rain. How have others fixed this problem? I found an old post where, on a yachtfish, they put scuppers before the drain under the wing doors. Does anyone have any pictures of how they did it?

  3. Stand Alone Dehumidifiers- Good idea or not worth it?

Guys...I notice that I my humidity onboard tracked pretty much with the prevailing exterior conditions, especially during the winter when the AC’s weren’t running much.Since we live in Charleston, SC it’s humid all the time so I got a stand-alone dehumidifier which measures about that which rolls...

  4. How to use Parallel switch 1972 58' Hatteras Yachtfish

My starting batteries were low because someone removed the shore plug while some items were on and inverter drained the batteries. I finally charged the batteries, but what is the procedure to use the parallel switch if batteries are too low to start?

  6. 1979 6V92T Losing RPM

I have a 1979 43 convertible with twin 6V92T's. Last trip 10 mile run at the end of the trip the starboard engine started to smoke ever so lightly (greyish) and it dropped from 1900 to 1700 rpm's and would not go over that. Ran it this weekend same trip and at about the same point did it again. ...

  8. Winterizing - water filters

I have the original factory water filters on the boat for the wet bar and kitchen/fridge. To remove them, you just unscrew them 1/4 turn to the OFF position and pull down. Machine shop called. I have cracked head on my 426 Chrysler. Current heads are cast iron, but most new replacements are aluminum. 11. How to fend boat off dock in winds

I did try to google how to build big boat fender boards, no go, so changed it to yacht, same results. My dock is a pier that faces south. Westerly winds are no problem as the 46 will hang off the dock not hitting it. Easterly winds pin it to the dock and I need a good way to fend off without making...

  15. RPM vs. expected speed

Running a 46C with 8v71TIs at 2000 rpm I am seeing about 14 knots. Seems a bit slow, but over to the crowd. I’m not sure what wheels are on her other than 4 bladed. I was not loaded down with fuel / water.
