  1. Angry 58 LRC Washer/Dryer Mystery

I went to pull my W/D out to install an LG100 (I love these!) in the main tank fuel line. I removed the front paneling, and got the unit 98% of the way out but couldn't get it all the way out. The hoses were holding it in. I can't squeeze past it. I can't reach the connection to the unit. I cannot...

  2. Question for 58/65 LRC owners

Can anyone send me a photo or describe what the cabinets on the far right side of the pilothouse are supposed to look like? Mine our simple open shelves and I'd like to return them to original. Where these pull out drawers or did they hinge on sides? Do they contain file hangers? I...

  3. Hull Number location 1972 Hatteras Yachtfish

In process of selling my 1972 58' Hatteras Yachtfish. Buyer wants to see the hull number etched somewhere on the boat. I can not find it on the upper right corner of the transom. Any 1972 Yachtfish owners out there know where else it may be?

  4. Twin Disc trans stuck in gear!!

In forty years of boating I don’t think I’ve put as much as a scratch on a boat. As of this past Monday I can no longer say that. The starboard twin disc transmission stuck in forward during a fuel stop. The result in close quarters was 93,000 pounds landing on an older fiberglass Chris-Craft....

  5. Paragon Transmission Locked in Forward

Have a 1973 38' Hatteras FBDC with starboard transmission locked in forward. When shifted to reverse, it kills the engine. Suppose it must be removed and rebuilt or replaced. Any suggestions would be appreciated. The troubleshooting guide gives three possible problems ... all sound quite serious.

  6. Deck Box, Replacement

Have a 1979 53 Motor Yacht, Deck boxes are not in great shape. They could be rebuilt, but would like bigger. Does any one know or recommend a replacement company? Need a deck box, not a dock box (with legs). Would be great if it was water proof, and then it would be spider proof. Could not find...

  7. 53MY Original Props Cup?

My boat has the original 28x31x4 dyna quad props. I can’t seem to find anything on whether the OEM props have any cup and if so what number? I need to order a spare set, and I also need to reduce pitch on the originals to achieve 2300 rated, and am in need of this information. Because I only have...

  8. 43DC Attitude

So, we took the plunge and removed the flybridge from our 1972 43DC, and I don't have any regrets about doing so. The hardtop core will need some further attention and we never ran from up there really anyway, etc... That said, one issue with the 43DC that the removal of the flybridge has...

  9. Wire chase nightmare - expanding foam

I've been trying to clear some space in my wire chase in anticipation of replacing my electronics and have encountered a major problem. Some creative person decided to pump expanding foam like Great Stuff into the top of the chase up on the bridge. This has filled all the voids and effectively...

  10. Fresh Water Pump Rebuild?

Not sure if this is a question that could be answered here but... I just ordered a rebuild kit for my freshwater pump (8V71TI engine). When comparing the parts in the kit with the ones extracted from the pump I found that the impeller in the new kit does not have a ceramic insert on the...

  11. Shore Power Question

I have one of these on each corner of my 1975, 64MY. I can attach to shore power at each point, and "switch" my panel to accept which ever one is plugged in. There are 2 "zones" or transformers. My question is, can I plug in one 50A 220 volt power cord, AND a 50A 125 volt power cord at the...

  12. Replacing screen in engine rooms

I noticed a few pieces of corroded screen that was falling apart out of these air vents. Has anyone ever Replaced the screens? If so can you do it in place or do you have to take the whole air vent chamber out to install? Thanks in advance for your information.

  13. 55’ sport fish water in fuel

Apparently while my boat was in the boatyard in Puerto Vallarta for 3 months enough water from rain I think went in the fuel cap. There was enough water in the genset Racors to make it stop running. I ran the mains for about an hour before I noticed the water in main engine Racors and went back...

  15. 50 amp fuse?

I just got the walk through on my new toy today...1983 60' EB. It was a warm day and the seller told me I need to be careful how much load I draw at the dock because if I exceed 50 amps a fuse would blow. The fuse is located in the cockpit adjacent to the shore power cord. Has anyone replaced...

  16. Exhaust options?

My stainless steel exhaust tubing is showing some wear, i have a few weeps. This is the 4' tube that runs out the engine room through the back bulkhead. Of course this is after the shower head so it shouldn't be too warm. I doubt pulling it out and doing a patch or 2 at a time is the best way to...

  17. Dry Weight

42LRC Mark2Exactly what is dry weight per mfgr? Reviews from early days says 28,600# and most listed for sale say 28,000. But then a supposed Hatteras stat sheet in a owner's papers says 40,000? Original brochure does not mention. Is there an owner's manual somewhere out here in Internet Land?

  18. Quiet Fresh water pump wanted.

I currently have a shurflo dual pump system, but it's pretty noisey. It seems that one of the pumps is louder than the other. I don't have a reference if it normal or not. It's very annoying at times. Would a Groco style Sr. or Jr system be a quiet alternative? I already have a new 1 gallon...
