  2. Not zapped

In the course of doing some mid-job trouble shooting on the head install, we found several 110AC and a few 32 vdc breakers that are bad. Some are holding closed although open (welded contacts) and some are open while showing "on" with the knob. Are these breakers that prone to failure? One I...

  3. Looking at 56 Hat's 8V92's Problem??

We are looking to move aboard fulltime to a larger boat once all of our rental property in Melbourne, FL sells (which has slowed lately, very frustrating). We are currently on a 43ft Gulfstar trawler with twin 100hp Yanmars and burn a whopping 1.5gph total at 8 knots, and although it is great for...

hi all, looking to put a satellite tv service on board for the next 2 months (our northeast season) and do not have it at home. i don't need any tracking ability as i would only use it at the dock. they all (directtv/dish) seem to have all sorts of programs, but none even hint at a seasonal...

  5. You seen this LRC rebuild?

This kingspoint guy is "rebuidling" a LRC in what looks like an attempt to "flip" it. I really don't understand how you can make money off of a depreciating asset in a soft market like this, but good luck to him! http://www.cleaniedini.com/Hatteras.htm

  7. Trim Tab Stuck..

Sorry for asking a dumb question - never had a boat with trim tabs before.. The SB trim tab is going down fine. How does it go back up? Does the pressure of the water push it up when I hit the up button while under way? The Port tab seems to be stuck (in the in /or "up" position). I hear...

  11. 12 volt fan with 32volt current

Has anyone ever tried replacing the 32volt blowers in the heads, engine rooms with par 12volt fans ? I suspect it might work ??? And/or is there such a thing as an inexpensive transistor/diode or other magic device to put in line to step down the current at each device ?

  14. rebuilding our 12-71s - photos

Well..., Covington Diesel (Wilmington) began rebuilding Miss Mary Alma's 12-71s a couple of weeks ago. The port engine has been broken down and the rebuild/reassembly on it is about 60% complete as of today. The camshaft on the port engine was bad, so it will have to be replaced. Other than...

  16. Engine room blowers

Just a heads up. I had a noisy ER blower and decided to replace both. Found one was shot. The plastic squirrel cage had disintegrated, motor was still running. The other had noisy bearings and the cage was in the initial stages of self destruct.. If you have old blowers, you probably have a similar...

  20. Original Hatteras flooring
