  1. Bedding Down Deck Coring/ Esp Flybride

I have seen some great looking photos on this site of owners who had replaced bad deck coring. Pix show the top deck fiberglas pulled off and all the old coring removed down to the underlying fiberglas. The only assumption is that entirely new coring was installed. My worst area of bad coring...

The wheel at the lower station of my 43 DC wobbles on the shaft. Anyone know where or if bushings are available for it?

  3. Rudder movement range

In the set up for a Furuno Navpilot it asks for angle of rudder movement in degrees. My guess would be about 30 degrees, but I can't find it in the manual. Searched the forum and everyone seems to want the toe in or toe out angle.

  4. Remove Old Vinyl Letters

Need to rename the vessel. What's the best / safest way to remove old vinyl letters off the stern without wrecking the finish? How prevalent is ghosting once the old letters have been removed?

  5. Rpm's slow to rise

I have 892's 735h.p engines. I was out last night and when I was bringing the rpm's up on both engines the starboard was very slow to catch up to the port. The starboard did get up to the same rpm I brought the port to(1900) but it was definately taking longer to get there. I seem to remember...

  6. Windshield washer shutoff

Where is the windshield washer shutoff valve? Center sprayer is drooling and wish to turn it off before digging in. Any clues as to why it might be weeping? It's a steady drip.

  7. Uh Oh - Needs opinions quick please

Have not signed final acceptance to purchase on the boat. Just found a serious deck/core problem inside the P flybridge. Water is leaking into the salon where the big bundle of wires pierces the deck. 6" away from that the deck is cracked and bulging upward by about 1". The crack is in an L shape...

  8. blower vent housing

I'm replacing the missing fins in the housing that attaches to my blower hoses. They were missing when I got the boat , not sure how they were set up. Seems like they want to overlap and one rest on top of the other. then put a couple of screws at the top and bottom so they will stay in place ? ...

Does anyone have a solution to keep birds off our boats? Barn swallows seem to be the biggest problem.

  10. Wacky Oil Pressure Gage

The oil pressure gage on the bridge sometimes pegs (>100psi) in response to goosing the engine, or even just running it above 800 rpm. Mechanical gage in the ER shows the expected 60 psi. Sounds like an electrical problem in the gage wiring. I'll be trying to diagnose it later today, but would...

  12. 12 volt light in V-birth that doesn't work

I have a 1971 42C that has a 12 volt light in the V-birth, my question is does anyone know where the lead wire for this light connects to? I have tested the line for this light and it is dead. There are two panels under each bed in the V-birth, both contain 12 volt and 110 volt junction boxes. I...

  13. Replacement prop

Anyone who can help: I need a replacement prop--36"x36"x3" LEFT hand in any reasonable condition that is usable as/is or which can be reconditioned. Unfortunately I destroyed mine, believe it or not,by hitting asubmerged engine block about one north of Sebastian Inlet in the ICW. Mariners beware,...

  14. Sea Trials / Very Brief Black Smoke

Went to sea trials yesterday on our potential 53 MY. Cold start yielded an expected and 'pretty' brief white plume fom the P exhaust. SB side however gave same except just as much of a black plume (still very brief then all clear). Boat had sat on the hard for about 4 weeks. Both engines started...

The short version of this tale is that we decided to fish the Drambuie Key West Marlin Tourney about a year ago. In addition to getting the boat topped off with lots of upgrades to make the 150 nm run from Miami Beach to Key West like Sirius satellite weather added to the Nav Net, tackle, EZ2CY...

  16. 1965 41 DC water pipe question

So now that I am comfortable driving the boat around, I am fixing the luxuries.. Like getting some running water. Got the water pump to work last night. But there is a problem: The water pump sucked water from the tank, and started to spit it out, but when I connected the the outgoing hose,...

  17. 58 YF versus 58 CMY

Greetings All - I'm looking for my first Hatteras and have pretty much narrowed the search to a 58 Yachtfish. However, in searching around I see there was a 58 Cockpit Motoryacht. What was the difference between these models? Also I found a 53 that had a cockpit added by Hatteras of...

  18. Fuel filter change

I got a set of those filters Tony Athens pushes for my new cummins. I'd like to drain them since this is my first tank of fuel and figured they'd pick stuff up, especially this time around. If I drain them and fill them with diesel will that be enough or is there some type of spcial priming I...

I have read the threads on replacement products my question is where can I get a replacement fuel shutoff valve identical to my Hatt's original in line. Series 1 36C. 20. Transom Ladder off 53MY or 54MY

I have searched the forum for the last couple of weeks and could not find any reference to Stairs or Steps off the transom.
