  1. 426 Wedge Engine cooling part - what is it?

have 1964 426 wedges- After the SB engine over heated, I pulled the water pump. the impeller looked good. So I decided to check out the thermostat. Attached image is the part that I pulled that is located underneath the 3 water hoses that connect in one spot-on top-forward of the engine. The...

  3. Water Powered Thrusters

I was looking at a 53MY today and I mentioned to the broker that I would be thinking about putting in both bow and stern thrusters. He said there is a brand new thruster that works like a jet drive on a seado. He called it a bubble thruster. It attaches to the front of the hull and the only hole...

  4. Re: Garmin Radar

Does anyone have any experience with Garmin radar? Specifically the model 404 open array. Right now I have a Furuno 1731 Mark-3 that is fairly old. I recently purchased a Garmin 4212 MFD and would not mind a networked system. Please let me know if any of you have any opinions on the aforementioned...

  7. Windlass Fuse Blows-Real Poser

I have a resettable 70 amp breaker and a 100 amp ANL fuse in the engine room both connected to my windlass. It turns out that the 100 amp fuse has been blowing frequently (and, while I am not aboard). In other words, when I leave the boat and raise/lower the anchor to make sure it is straight, it...

  8. Coverting 12V to 110V-Frig and Freezer

On my 43 SX, the galley frig and galley freezer are both 12V only. I want to convert them to 110V only. I have done this before but long since forgotten how. Rather than an inverter to convert 110V to 12V, I think I want a converter to go the other way. Any idea how big a unit or units I will need....

  10. Simrad = Great Customer Support

I called Simrad yesterday to see if they could give me any guidance on my old Robertson AP100 Autopilot. They hooked me up with a more senior tech named John, who spent about 15 minutes on the phone with me and got me headed in the right direction to debug the offending unit. He also suggested...

  11. Removing the Galley Sink

Sorry if this is a repeat question, couldn't find anything using the search button. Has anyone successfully removed their galley sink? I TRIED to remove the sink in the head once to replace the faucet and it was a nightmare. How do you get that metal ring off? Thanks for any advice.

If I want to remove all of the dinghy stuff on the roof of my 53 ED, what can I expect to find for fasteners? I cannot see how they are through bolted, so would they just be big screws? ByronS

  15. Starter on 12V71TI Problems

The starter on my starboard engine didn't seem to "disengage" while starting the engine. The engine would get up to around 450 RPMs and then stop when the start button was let go. I was told that this is symptomatic of a starter needing a rebuild. I'm heading down there in about 1 hour and...

  16. Fresh Water Pump - Airbound

The silly little fresh water pump on my 43 Open seems to become air bound fairly often. Hence, it is often running when I return to the boat after not having been on board for several days. Assuming there is water in the tank (which there is), and water is not getting pumped out of the tank (which...

  17. Clean Binocular Schmutz

I have a nice set of Steiners that I keep in the pilothouse on my 43 SX. The larger openings are always covered by the cups but the eyepieces remain uncovered. Despite this, they really do not see any weather. However, the eyepieces have started to film over and do not appear to want to clean up...

  18. ANCO wiper arms

My old boat has wipers that the arms attach with a bolt through the center of the arm spline. The current ones- corroded and due for replacement- are ANCO which I can find no where. All of the AFI and Ongaro stuff that's available just fits over the spline of the shaft and has a set screw in the...

  19. Newbie and want to be

I am interested in a boat located in Miami but am not sure how to start this process. I have done a lot of research but not sure if it is better to deal with the listing broker or get one of my own. Also, I do not know any surveyors in the Miami area so I need advice in that department also. I...
