  1. quick disconnect for oil changing in 3208's

I recently bought a 1990 41c Hatteras with 3208's and no oil change system. Each engine has a quick disconnect fitting to a hose that goes to the oil pan for pumping out the oil when oil changing. Any idea where I can get the mate that would go to the pump for the quick connect, to set up a pump...

  2. Which micron?

I have Racor primary filters on both the engines and the genny. I've been buying the same fuel filters for my primaries that were on the boat when I got her. But, what SHOULD I be using? The engines have 30 micron in them while the genny has 2 micron in it. We go through a lot of filters on...

  3. Bizzare airconditioning problem...

Labor Day weekend brought an unusual problem for me....when my wife turned the saloon airconditioning off, the sea water pump continued running. I turned off the circuit breaker in the port engine room and the sea water pump stopped. When I reset the circuit breaker, the saloon compressor started...

  4. water temp sender size question

The current temp sender does not work with the new gauges. The current senders have a thread diameter of 13/16 (from the edge of one thread to the edge of thread on the other side) but I can not find any VDO senders of that size, even the ones that come with extra bushings to fit different...

  6. head countertop on 1990 41C

I have some separation on the marble-looking countertop with the integrated sink on my 41C - apparently some acidic something spilled on the countertop and in the sink bowl in an earlier life and corroded a hole in it and in other places it appears to be delaminating from its' plaster looking base....

  7. Changing Fuel Filters

Everything was fine this morning...I headed down to the boat to change the fuel filters before setting off on a 3-4 day cruise on Chesapeake Bay with the First Mate (i.e. wife). Had been experiencing engine slowdowns, so filter change was indicated. Did the job on both 8V71Ns in about half an...

  8. House water pump

Had the original house water pump rebuilt (I think a Groco 32V) and the rebuilders rewound the motor to 32 amps, then 25 amps (I think it wants to be 15 amps). After the 32 wind the pump was kicking the breaker. After the 25 wind same thing. Supposedly they're rewinding to 15 now. Am I missing...

  9. Port tachs dropped to 0 while engine still running

On Saturday, I was using my Glendenning synch for the first time in a while. When slowing to displacement speed, the port tach dropped to 0 and I thought I lost the engine. Upon a quick search, I realized the engine was still on, but all of the tachs (3) were not working. Can anyone give me an...

  11. Kohler Gas 6.5KW - Flashing Q.

My Kohler Gen was not used for about 15 years. It now runs well but there is no AC output. I have the manual, and it has directions for flashing. It asks to remove the brushes, and then put 12 v DC on the generator terminals. The funny thing is, even without running the generator, there is a...

  12. lectra san

I have a lectra san that was new about a year and a half ago, and it works great. However, when under way the water level in the bowl rises a couple of inches along with some odor. Reflush and it's ok for a while. Any suggestions.

  14. Ideal Windlass Question

Anchored out this weekend and used my windlass for first time. It is a verticle Ideal Windlass. I laid out a good 100' of rode and when cranking it back in, the top part of the windlass (the part for line rode) would spin at a constant speed....the part of the windlass where I had the chain rode...

Well, I have been fooling around with the fresh water system on my 43 sx all year. I replaced the pump thinking it was bad and that seemed to cure the problem (for a while-see below).
