  1. Lightbulb Composite Window Frames

I have been working on this style of window frame for a while. I can now build fixed window frames only using the composite material. With this material, there is never any corrosion and you can paint them any color you want. If they are installed with the type caulking I use, there will not be any...

  2. Another lesson

I pulled the 32 volt siezed galleymade water pump today and pulled it apart. Depending how the rotor meggars, I think its salvageable. Reminds me of a Model T starter! The worm and boot all appear like new, bearings are good and the mica insulators on the commutator are good, etc. What I cant...

  3. Electrical Conduit

Reminder: I have a 1964 41ft DC My question is should I install Plastic Conduit (smurf pipe) to those boxes? My worry is on chafing of the wire inside the conduit. And I definitely think that having a conduit between the Service Entrance and the electrical panel is a good idea. For...

  4. Bio anyone?

So does anyone run with bio diesel? I have a connection for bio deisel and personally I would rather pay 98 cents a gallon and smell like french fries than 4 bucks a gallon and smell like a bus. However I wanted to know if anyone runs bio or knows of any issues that can crop up running it?

  5. 32 volts - New in Spring

It looks like I will have to replace my 32 volt batteries this Spring. That is 4, 8 volt batteries on each side for a a total of 8 batteries. I know it has been discussed before but assuming I do want maintain 32 volts on each side, what are my options short of just replacing what I have. Thanks.

  8. what kind of sprayer?

I've got a hull gouge to touch up, and I'm wishing I asked my painter what kind of little jobby he was using the last time he did a touch-up for me. I want to try it myself. He mixed up standard Sterling 2-part poly and had this very small sprayer that didn't use a compressor. I'm afraid of...

  10. converting automatic choke to electrical

My SB carb would not have the secondaries open up. Took it to the local carb shop, and they saw that the copper tube that sucks hot air through th exhaust manifold was actually sucking exhaust, meaning that the tube inside the exhaust manifold is probably cracked, and unless I fix that (or convert...

Why do I have very hot water comming out of the galley sink and the forward (bow) head? I have allready checked the water heater, it's turned off and is cold to the touch. the guest and master head water is cool as it should be with the heater off. I'm guessing the heat off the generator is...

  12. DD v MTU?

I notice that all the re-power posts usually include electronic Cummins, Yanmar, maybe Lugger or John Deere, or even Cat's. However, I don't remember a single mention of the 4 cycle electronic variation of DD, now MTU (DDEC), i.e. and e.g. the 60 series. Given the generally accepted reliability...

  14. c 38 prop questions

My 1972 38 c has 8v53s with twin disc 506 transmissions. Thanks to this forum's help I know that much. I also figured out that the port transmission is a ratio of 1.5 - 1, and starboard is 2 - 1. My guess is that one of the former owners of the boat broke the left tranny, and got cheap or...

  16. Guide Cleat Sizing

Ok, after I get the pilings installed, then or before, it'll be time to put the storm ropes on the Yatch. However, the "Guide Cleats" that I have in my opinion aren't big enough. Attached are pictures showing a 1/2" line going through them. My storm lines are 1". Leaving no room for anything...

  17. Beam confirmation

The owners manual for the 1967 34' sports cruiser I purchased this summer says the boat is 34'2" in length (not counting the swim platform), but no mention of the beam. I'm trying to get into a new marina for next summer and need to know what the beam really is. I've been told 12ft up to 13 1/2...

  18. Rayline - Refurbish or Replace

  19. Piling spacing for 41ft DC

Ok, I've read most of the posts for the last year. Ya'll talked about Hurricanes and how Pilings should be taller than the boat during the Hurricanes. Ok, I've seen 23ft Storm Surge. When you measure storm surge, You look inside a house to ignore wave action. So when you have 10-20ft waves...

  20. Horn ID

Attached are some pics of a horn set I removed from my 1977 58YF for replating. The largest is about 36" long. The horns work intermittently but make beautiful noise when they do. Do any of you know the manufacturer of these (presumably) original equipment horns? The fuzzy picture with this...
