  3. Port engine smokes on startup

My port engine tends to smoke on cold startup. It does clear up after a bit. The engine was rebuilt at about 1,500 hrs. according to the mechanic who did it, but that was a while ago. He doesn't remember all that was done. He just remembers rebuilding it (the downside of getting old) Currently the...

  5. Liquid Plumber?

I had some guys here at the marina that said don't use liquid plumber in the heads. True? Also, I am thinking my trouble is in the line between the head and the tank. So if I put something like liquid plumber in the bowl would it even reach past the bowl? Thanks!

Revamping my sanitation system, using the fiberglass in keel tanks. Knowing these tanks are sensitive, is a pressure relief valve recommended? Here is an example of what I mean: https://marinesan.com/tanksaver-relief-valve/

I have a blackwater cleanout located on the port side of the bow deck near the windlass. Following the green flexible hose, it is hooked to a large holding tank below the forward stateroom. Hi there, we're hoping to get some clues about what to do with our gear shift problems. Hatt 1986 double cabin - gearshift does not work correct, starbord engine sometimes is going into gear (randomly back/forth) when lever is in "neutral" position. There is some kind of...

  10. Maretron vs navico N2K backbone

Good morning. I’m in the beginning stages of replacing my Simrad AP22-based auto pilot system with a new Simrad NAC3 AP 44 system. My question is whether in creating the backbone of the N2K system would it be worth it to spend the extra coin on Maretron backbone components. The Navico components...

  12. Head Dome Lights & Cover Plates

Heck, how about replacing the whole rusted and pitted mess. A forty one year service life is really quite remarkable. ...

I have a 1979 53’ MY. This morning the master shower started to leak at the faucet. It’s what you pull out and goes left to right hot to cold. I can see how to change it but don’t know which unit to buy to replace it. Has anybody replaced theirs? If so, can you tell me the model? They look...

  14. Securing a new fridge in 87 54MY

I recently replaced my fridge in an 87 54 MY and am wondering what techniques others have used to secure theirs for rough water. 18. 1979 37 Convertible

My daughter and son in law are looking at a 79 37C. Any input on this model would be appreciated. 6-71 TIB engines. I'm presuming that this boat predates any hull coring concerns.

  19. Simrad Auto Pilot Issue

I have a Simrad A22 Auto Pilot, that works really well until I try to troll on port engine. When salmon fishing we need to go slow, ~2.5mph, so its standard cut an engine and troll off one for X amount of time, and then start the opposite side and do the same thing. It slows the boat down and...
