  1. nitrate & Ph

Flushed heat exchanger added distilled water and detroit pro 6000. Tested with the strips and what I expected to see was everything in balance. However it looks ok Ph but Nitrates are still way too low. Has anyone gone down this path to make it test out perfect. Do you just add a...

  3. Need help on AC Switching Panel

I found my perfect live aboard (thanks for everyone's help in this board) and went thru survey today. It's a 1988 Hat 54 MY. My wife and I just love it. My only question is, the AC switching panel. This is my 4th boat and I've owned 10 different motorhomes(which have similar AC ,DC panels). ...

  5. Fuller portlight gasket leak

I have a leak under my 7 by 15 fuller portlight in the forward stateroom of my 41 c. I've heard mention of replacing the portlight gasket but when I went to fuller's website I only found the lens gasket. It seems dry around the lens . Is there a gasket in between the portlight and the finish ring?...

  6. Weaver dinghy davits

Has anyone used these or had any experience with them? I am thinking about them for my 36C. The advantage seems to be that when I am not carrying the dinghy on the swim platform, all the hardware (or most of it) is absent, so I only have to have all that stuff on there when I am actually carrying...

  7. Listing to Starboard

Kismet has developed a 3 degree list to starboard that needs to be addressed. Obviously the easiest fix is to determine WHY she is listing, but to date, I don't think I've completely figured it out. The only thing that has changed since the list began is that I moved the large L shaped...

We have a 1966 50' Yacht Fisherman with 871 naturals and Alison transmissions. I always check the transmission oil level with the engine running after about 15 - 20 minutes of run time. The port side tranny always shows a little low. We have run the boat up from San Francisco and are now in...

  9. Heavy Weather

We've discuused on several occasions that our Hattera are not so well suited for ocean crossings....just not designed for it...Here are a couple of photographs that visually illustrate a better design for such open waters. In the first photo note the incredibly deep forefoot on this commercial...

  12. Hynautic Steering Filter Change Tips?

I had similar Hynautic steering on a couple of my Hatt's, but none have had a filter (to my knowledge) before this one. In the pic below, you can see the white spin-on type filter partially blocked by the cooler for the steering fluid. The filter looks like a typical spin-on oil filter but it says...

  14. Ultimate Bilge Pump Switch

See the link below, expensive, but hopeful somebody on here has tried one and is satisfied. I'm sick of the rule switches that consistently fail to work. http://www.boatownerswarehouse.com/browse.cfm/4,658.html

  16. Anybody ever used PulseTech chargers?

  17. Davit darnit

My davit turns freely with no load, but after I hauled up the new tender (Bluewater Baby with Honda 25 hp) I couldn't pull it in, even with a strap and rachet. I read somewhere the davit is rated for 1,000 pounds, and the new rig should be under 700. It's hard to get any leverage to turn it...

  20. Minor Seal Design Change, Helpful Result

This is very low tech, but Groco has modified their design of the seal that sits between the raw water intake "cover plate" and the intake "body". When the cover plate is removed, the strainer is then removable. Formerly this seal was a round "ring", with the center portion cutout, so that the...
