  2. towing tender

Does anyone have pictures of the New Zealand method of tying a tender behind the swim platform, or detailed instructions? I read somewhere about using noodles to hold the tender away from the platform.

  4. Why It Takes Me Forever To Get Anything Done.

I've come to the conclusion that I'm my own worst enemy when it comes to getting my boat back in shape. Well, second to someone who did some real hack work on the engines. But, we'll say no more about this. I wasted most of today making a part. Any person with the IQ of a squirrel would...

  6. 53 MY wiper blades not wiping wiping very well

I have NEVER been able to get the wiper blades to smoothly wipe the glass. It seems they all have sections that do not bear on the glass so I end up with clear areas and areas that the blade just ignores. I have changed blades twice since owning the boat but although the particular area of...

  7. Marine vs Automative Alternator

I have a pair of 853's in a recently purchased boat and there is an non-marine alternator on my port engine and none on the starboard. I want to add the 2nd alternator and am wondering about using a truck/auto one since this is a diesel environment rather than gas. Looking for advice. ...

  8. generator fuel tank

I have a 1988 52c. The boat has a rear and forward tank with starboard and port fuel control valves on one of the bulkheads. 9. sea strainer sealant

Ok maybe this is a stupid question, but what sealant would you use on the cork gaskets on an older groco sea strainer that has plastic sight glass? I put it all together with permatex 2b, the shellac based sealer and now I have to use heat or alcohol to get it apart, bonded much too strongly to...

  11. 12 volt electronics panel

Has anyone added a 12 volt electronics breaker panel? I need to straighten out the wiring under each helm anyway and make sure everything is properly fused. 12. 32 volt electronics breakers obsolete?

With all the conversion to 12 volt electronics over the years, I believe the electronics breaker box in my port engine room may now be obsolete. Is anything left on the 32 volt electronics circuits? Next weekend I'll shut them all off and take a cruise.

  17. Testing Battery Charger???

I currently have a Heart Interface (now Xantrex) Truecharge 40+ charger on my two bank battery system (2-8D's in each bank). The charger has worked without a problem for the past 10-12 years. Two days ago, apparently one of the 8D's shorted out (3.5 years old) and the charger "cooked" it dry. ...

  19. Aft Deck Rug Replacement

The boat came with a grey carpet covering the aft deck. I never cared for it and removed it, but the white deck shows dirt all too quickly. 1/2 inch thick teak flooring ripped into 2.2 cm wide strips held together with epoxy and 3/4" ss brads. A 4'x5' section weighs less than 20#. I am...
