I recently purchased a fair condition Hat 37 convertible that had hit bottom. I've got all the gear back to specs and back in the water. The engines (671TI) are running great at the dock and revs nice and clean. When I take her out she bogs down at about 1400 rpm, the stern digs in and I can't get...

  2. Burn Used Motor Oil?

I just hauled 15 gallons of old oil to a garage for recycling. I keep thinking we ought to be able to mix it into the fuel to recover the $4+/gallon. Is any one doing that? These old DD's use low ash oil, so maybe it's OK?????? Bob Chateau de Mer 6V92 425 HP

  8. 43 DC Berth Conversion

After much deep thought about converting the port aft berth into a full I dove in. The cabinet removed nicely, and there will be enough left over wood to finish the side. The bunk will now accept a full matress perfectly. I will post some pictures when the project is finished. I am going...

  9. Accumulation of Sediment in Fuel Tank

Does anyone have any general idea of how much displacement of fuel can occur over four or five years from the accumulation of sediment? I believe my 43C has a fuel capacity of around 470 gals. I always understood that at least 10% of capacity is unavailable. That would still leave me over 400. ...

  19. Cummins VT370M fuel/shut down solenoid

The boat is a 1970 Hatteras 53 Classic MY with the original (optional power) Cummins VT370's. This is the 785 cubic inch V-8, not the 903 although the fuel/shutdown solenoid configuration may indeed be the same. This is (obviously) a 32 volt boat, with 32 volt start engines. This morning, which...
