  1. krisper in cabinet

Hi all, one of my kitchen cabinets has a "crisper", or small heater rod in it. It seems to stay hot all the time. I pulled the fuse for it to shut it down, but is there a switch for it somewhere? Thanks

  2. Air in fresh water system

I have developed a problem where I have significant air in the fresh water system of my 2002 Cabo 47. I have a 24V and 120V water pump in parallel with Whale fittings and pipe throughout. Some have suggested that Whale fittings are not appropriate on the suction side from the tank to the pumps....

  3. Used prop shafting

As part of a Cummins 450 Diamond repower, I need to swap out my 1.5" Aquamet 17 shafts for 1.75" Aquamet 22. I've priced them out new but have been wondering about used shafting. Given the large number of propeller vendors and private sellers around, including Sam's Prop Place, I've been surprised...

  4. Got Mice! :(

Went to make a sandwich a few minutes ago. When I pulled the bread out of the cupboard, I discovered that the corner of the bag had been chewed through as well as several pieces of bread. Fortunately they left enough for me to make my sandwich. Last night I thought I heard a scuttling sound from...

  5. PVC waste pipe - clamp or not?

Sky, Ang (and others who have done this), Did you attach the PVC to the stringers with clamps or just let it sit? I'm trying to decide if clamping it is a good thing or whether it would actually make it more prone to a problem due to any flexing of the boat or the PVC.

  6. Need Amtico flooring advice!

I am considering Amtico flooring for the galley, companionway, v-berth, and head on my 43C. I know a lot of you have used Amtico on your Hatt's. My question is, how do you treat the border of the access hatches in the sole? Is there an edging material that can be used to create a border around...

  7. A better way to combat fire onboard

Hello All, I was recently introduced to a different type of fire suppression than what we carry here on the ship. It is basically an anti fire hand grenade that will knock the shit out of a fire fast and you remain at a safe distance. We bought one so far but will be adding 2-3 more because...

  10. LED Lights for the Engine Room

Lighting in the ER is not very good. I made some fixtures for 48 SMD LED lights and am running two strings of lights off of the electronics DC electric panel on the stb side of the saloon. 13. How to refinish hi-gloss interior

I have been looking early 2000 sportfishers and many have a milky look to the interior finish. This is only on the ones with the super hi-gloss finishes. Not sure if this is epoxy or what do you have to do for a refinish.

  14. 8v92 Thermostat Location

Just got off the phone with the DD parts guy. He is telling me there are 4 thermostats in my 8v92. I find this hard to believe. He stated there is one per bank which might be possible for the 16 cylinder version. Mine is an 8v92TA and I only see one on the right front of the engine return where...

  17. '60-63 Trunk cabin engines

After much discussion with the broker (& then a mechanic), we've determined that the engines in the '62 41'er aren't 6v71's - as the Forum insisted don't fit in the early trunkcabins - but are 6-53 nats. I'm not looking for a high 20's cruise (close to 20 would be fine), but can this boat get out...

  19. AC/Heat question

Well, it's that time of year.. starting to get into the 50's. I was checking to make sure all my cruiseair's were making heat. I have a couple that don't want to cooperate! (1987 63MY) They make AC fine. The thermostats are old Honeywell units, and there is NOT a place to swap from AC to heat, just...
