  1. Window Frames

My 1988 36 has the original bronze colored window frames. The finish is so thin you can see through it in places. It's not corroded, I'm in fresh water, just bleached out by the sun. Question is, has anyone refinished their frames to the original color? Every one I've seen are painted the hull...

  4. Delta T Cooling fans

Installed two Delta T bilge blowers and two Delta T 11 inch cooling fans last month in engine room. Great product!! Engine room is running 35 degrees cooler. No vapor lock since installation. When you walk up starboard side of boat you really can feel heat being pushed out!

  6. Quick note on waste hose

Dr Jim and I went to the Annapolis boat show earlier today and, based on my recent disgust with Shields XHD sanitation hose I paid particular attention to look at what new boats are using for waste hose. On a new 55ft Fleming and a new 65 ft (can't remember the brand) the waste hose was...

  7. Bilge cleaning

I don't know if this is Tech Talk but I am going tomorrow AM to Warwick to start prepping the boat for moving to Stuart the 22nd. I haven't been on board since the surveys and sea trial 6 weeks ago and know the slightly odoriferous bilges are probably quite distinctive in aroma by now. I...

  8. Cleaning after coolers

I have 8v92 TA with air seps. i have owned the boat for about 2 years now. How often is it necessary to clean the after coolers? I heard that with air seps the coolers get some oil sludge build up. Are there any signs which present themselves before cleaning is needed? Is there a scheduled...

  9. Shower drain removal 53 MY

In my removing the white waste hose/installing PVC (completed) I discovered that the shower drain in the guest shower is leaking around the base so it needs to be removed/recaulked/reinstalled. I was able to get the drain pipe removed but I cannot loosen the large nut that holds the drain itself...

  11. Schematic of 3126 Cat

Would anyone have a schematic of a 3126 Cat. About a 2001 model. I'm trying to help my boss locate all the zincs on the motor since he sprayed all them white. They had red paint on the tops of all them and now he can't remember where they all were. It seems like there were about 4 or 5 of the...

  13. krisper in cabinet

Hi all, one of my kitchen cabinets has a "crisper", or small heater rod in it. It seems to stay hot all the time. I pulled the fuse for it to shut it down, but is there a switch for it somewhere? Thanks

  14. Air in fresh water system

I have developed a problem where I have significant air in the fresh water system of my 2002 Cabo 47. I have a 24V and 120V water pump in parallel with Whale fittings and pipe throughout. Some have suggested that Whale fittings are not appropriate on the suction side from the tank to the pumps....

  15. Used prop shafting

As part of a Cummins 450 Diamond repower, I need to swap out my 1.5" Aquamet 17 shafts for 1.75" Aquamet 22. I've priced them out new but have been wondering about used shafting. Given the large number of propeller vendors and private sellers around, including Sam's Prop Place, I've been surprised...

  17. PVC waste pipe - clamp or not?

Sky, Ang (and others who have done this), Did you attach the PVC to the stringers with clamps or just let it sit? I'm trying to decide if clamping it is a good thing or whether it would actually make it more prone to a problem due to any flexing of the boat or the PVC.

  18. Need Amtico flooring advice!

I am considering Amtico flooring for the galley, companionway, v-berth, and head on my 43C. I know a lot of you have used Amtico on your Hatt's. 19. A better way to combat fire onboard

Hello All, I was recently introduced to a different type of fire suppression than what we carry here on the ship. It is basically an anti fire hand grenade that will knock the shit out of a fire fast and you remain at a safe distance. We bought one so far but will be adding 2-3 more because...
