  2. HELP! Trying to get generator apart...

Hello all, We are trying to remove our 12KW Onan from our 50 MY. I can't get the generator off the engine. I can't get the bell end off. According to the MDJC parts breakdown, I took the 4 bolts off the bell end but it still solid, doesn't wiggle, budge nothing. Any suggestions would be...

hey guys I got another question. 1971 Hatteris 36' SF With two 310 HP 454's.. Does anyone have a similar setup? My questions are fuel consumption at cruise and WOT, and speeds. I know it is a heavy boat and not fast by any means but was just wondering if anyone out there had a similar setup and...

Our #2 gen is a kubota/phasor 12.5kw V1505-EBG Generator is Lima Electric 250 gold medallion12 lead 240 volt single phase; which runs fine for 2-4 hours, and then the 220 and 120 volt service flickers with a constant load-no breakers blow, and then the engine stumbles as it reloads. the 220 comes...

  6. Intercooler hoses

I had the intercoolers cleaned and now ready to reassemble. The output hose is 4.5" ID which is available. The inputs are 3.5" ID but parts list shows 3.125. The cast number is 892223 which I can not locate on the net. Is this something specific to marine or am I just missing something?

  7. Tempered or Safety Glass?

I want to replace the plastic in the Bomar stateroom hatch that opens to the transom. Choices are plastic, tempered glass, and safety glass. Tempered glass shatters if broken, safety glass cracks, but stays intact. Plastic scratches and clouds. I'm thinking the way to go is safety glass. I was...

  8. What's the fastest verified 53MY speed?

I saw the post re the 23 mph 56MY and was wondering what the fastest anyone has seen or RELIABLY heard that a 53MY has achieved. Ours hit a touch over 18 knots (per GPS) at sea trial when we were purchasing in '04 but it was much lighter then. I did manage to hit 18 once just before winterizing a...

  10. Jabsco Impeller Help

So I must be a little bit Slow here but I assumed that I could take the Model # number off of the plate of my Jabsco raw water pump (2750-001) and I would be able to find replacement impellers for it. I didn’t think these would be hard to find as the Detroit 8V53 are very common. but I am guessing...

  11. Repacking the rudder stuffing box in the water?

The book says the stuffing box needs three peices of 1/2" packing. Based on the height of the adjusting nuts, I'd say it's all there but I still can't slow the leak. Ideas? can I just back off the nuts and add more packing while it's in the water? I was able to do this on the trawler, but there is...

  12. Need Carpet installer Daytona, Central FL area

I'm not sure if this belongs here or on the sandbar, so forgive me if I've posted in the wrong place. We're in the process of redecorating BUFFALO GAL. 13. Rudder Post Cutlass Bearings - 1979 43C

The rudder post stuffing boxes on my 1979 43C leak badly and require tightening after each time I run the boat. I’m fairly sure I need new cutlass bearings for them. I haven’t done this before so I’m apprehensive about any “gotchas” that may go along with the job. Can anyone offer your...

  14. foam underlay on stateroom walls

We stripped the wallpaper (it is a paper not vinyl) of our midship cabin and there is a very thin (1/16 to 1/8) foam product glued to the substrate. Has anyone run into this before? I'm thinking it might be a vapor barrier??? One of the walls is common with the full beam engine room leading to...

  15. Salon Cruisar WFAH 16 Tripping Breaker in Run

I have two Cruisar WFAH 16 heat pumps on my boat (1981 43' Hatteras DC). The one servicing the salon keeps tripping the a/c breaker when I switch it from "Start" to "Run". 16. Need help deciding which motors to get for 1987 41C

I run a charter boat in Costa Rica. What recommendations would you have for me to re-power. I just yanked my 671's, they were the original Covington diesels blown out to 450 bhp, although after many rebuilds and not being able to get the proper injectors I was probably only getting 350 bhp. My max...
