  2. 36C Series I Rope Locker

Does anybody else have this divider in their forward locker? It doesn't look original, but I'm not sure if it supports the A/C evaporator. So I thought I'd see if it belongs there before I rip it out and have the air handler fall into the bilge.

  3. Shore Power Plugs

I need to replace the male and female ends on my shore power cable 50A. Any experience or advice on doing the job myself. Also, any preference on make of the replacement parts (Marinco vs Hubbel etc.)? Thanks

  4. What would cause a compressor seizure in a brand new AC unit?

I swear I have the WORST luck with air conditioning! I got a whole three days of running out of a brand new 16K self-contained unit (ran it in cool mode for 1 day, then heat mode for 2 days). Now, the compressor is seized. Everything else is working just fine - fan, pump, digital control,...

  5. Need details on Battery Switch

I need help identifying a replacement battery switch for a 53MY. There are two switches on the panel located in the starboard engine room and both need to be replaced. I know the switches are "Guest", but I cannot get to the boat to investigate how these are actually wired and the boat is very new...

  6. Range increasing idea?

You guys are to be commended for being experts. Am looking to buy a Hat 54 MY. Come from a Silverton 40 and Californian 48 background (plus lots of small blowboat racing as a kid which I try to forget). I was wondering in reading the threads on range. I believe you said that 8 or 9 knots with...

  7. Fuel Filters

I searched previous threads, but did not see an answer to my question... My 8V71's have Racors as the primary filters, with engine mounted spin ons as the secondary filters. I currently have 30 micron filters in Racors, and the spin ons are 10 micron Napa FF3120's. I'd like to change the spin...

  8. Jabsco 7" searchlight "speed controller" potentiometer

Hi all, Helping a friend sort out his non-functioning searchlight. The speed control is frozen (corroded)- so tthe thing moves (replaced 8-way switch), but is stuck on fast. This "pot" is no longer available, but seems to be a 1-turn, linear pot- but I can't determine what the ohm value should...

  13. Converting 12v to 24v

I am installing Simrad radar on my boat this spring. I want to go with the bigger TX10 open array vs the TX06 model. Problem is that the TX10 requires 24 volt and my boat is only 12v on which the TX 06 runs. Does anyone know of a dependable, reasonable and affordable device to convert 12v to 24v...

  14. Fuel Gauges

Having installed new NEMA 2000 fuel gauges to my 87 40', the magnets were not strong enough to give a good reading. Purchasing new magnets, when I went to install them, I could not get the old brass on brass caps to let go and unscrew from the tank. I was advised to put a pipe on them and bear...

  15. Cutting off a Tower

I am currently interested in a boat that has a hardtop and a tower. The tower would prevent us from making trips up to Lake Michigan from Peoria. I am curious if anyone has cut off a tower just above the hardtop and made caps for the tubing. I would then consider making the tower available...

  16. Alternative Location of Mounting Satellite Dome

I'm trying to find a suitable location to mount a new sat dome. Dome measures 18" tall and weighs 9 lbs. My initial plan was to mount above my radar arch on the aft raked mast. It would just fit above the 4' radar array and below the wind cups (with about 1" of room to play with). But the mount...

  18. Hynautic Air Pressure

I learned something today and I thought I would pass it on even though many of you may know it. I had the local Hynautic shop rebuild the ram and after installing, everything worked fine...

  19. zincs

Well, folks, change your engine zincs before they fall apart and you have to take the HE apart to get all the fragments out. Ask me how I know. If this post helps ONE Hatteras owner avoid the current unpleasantness, the embarrassment will be well worth it. What a pain this is.

  20. Boat furniture that doesn't look like boat furniture?

I'm thinking about swapping out the sleeper sofa and loveseat in my salon, and I'm not sure what way to go. I want a large sofa (possibly L shaped) with storage under all of it) but I don't want it to look like it came out of an RV. All the boat furniture places seem to be stuck in the same...
