  1. Before and after

Here are a few pictures of Fair Well before and after her over two-year on the hard refit. Still have some of the brightwork to install and canvas curtains / awnings and lights etc. Replaced all windows to frameless carbon fiber frames that we built ourselves, installed all new portholes, redid...

  2. Flushing HE in Place - Genesis process question

I'm going to try the in place phosphoric acid flush process. I've done the muriatic acid dd method a few times with no major problem. Last time was about 3 seasons ago, so I'm probably due, although my temps are fine - even out at the edge mid summer. My question is this: do you typically flush...

  3. Name This Part!

Need some help with this. I know it is a transformer of some type, but what is it for. I found it attached to a plug under the pilot house helm. There were no wires attached, but it is warm to the touch. Only thing I can think of i s it may have something to do with the non functioning...

  4. Washer and dryer

You guys that have Bosch dryers are yours ventless? I am looking to replace ours and all the Bosch dryers seem to be ventless and require a lot of air space around them which our boat installations do not have. A couple of others brands also are ventless. Need suggestions. Thanks John

  8. Duramax shaft seal

I am hauling my 53 MY next week for shaft seal dripping problrm. The previous owner had installed south eastern foundries lip seal, and the starboard side is leaking. After reading some posts on Sam’s Marine I came to the conclusion that the Duramax shaft seal carries with it dual safety measures....

  9. Block heater fire

Don’t know how many of y’all use your block heater is this time of year. Here in this part of Texas where I am located I use mine not to keep the engines from freezing but to keep the moisture and humidity down. While working on re-plumbing the boat yesterday I touched the port Engine and...

  10. Swim Platform- Height Above Water

I am wondering what the best practical distance is for a boat's swim platform base to be above the water? We are halfway rejuvenating the boat's old hydraulic swim platform mechanism and can adjust this setting. At present the board's base above water is a huge 18" which makes boarding...

  11. Are VHF and SSB Antenna's Interchangeable?

Going to pull out my nonfunctioning SSB set up and was wondering if I can use the antenna for the VHF radio. The SSB antenna is in 3 pieces and stands about 18' high. That's quite a bit higher than my VHF and I was hoping I could get some more range by repurposing it. Will it work or are...

  13. Vosper Mini Fin Stabilizers - parts? Tear-down instructions?

Hi Folks - I own a 1970 Willard Marine trawler that has Vosper mini-fins which I know were fairly common on Hatts. Fins work fine, but I am doing a major refit and want to rebuild the stabilizers to the extent possible. I've contacted Naiad and they may be able to source seals, but not much else....

  14. Blocked a/c condensate drains

We have been having a rash of clogged drains this week which I clean with the shop vacuum, but one in particular is getting slower and slower. Even using the exhaust pressure from the vacuum has not made much difference: it drains the pan, but just barely. I don’t have access to the bottom of the...

  15. Yacht Fish Exhaust Leak

I have an exhaust leak in my master bedroom port side closet. The leak is from a blister on the connecting hose. I've been given two ideas. 1. Loosen the clamps, rotate the hose so that the blister is on top, clean and patch, then put a couple clamps on it. I know this would just be a temporary...

  16. Raritan Atlantes, should I?

Figured I’d tap the brain trust here. I’m in the process updating my black water system (new hoses, tank, etc) and when I pulled out the head to remove the discharge hose it appears the toilet hasn’t been out in a long time, maybe never. This is an original ‘A’ series Atlantes fresh water flush...

  17. Master SR Moisture Issue

Okay - so this is on the other boat but I look to the experts here for some help. When using the air conditioning in the master with the door closed on a hot day, there is so much moisture/humidity in the room that water actually forms on the mirrors and hard surfaces. Has anybody experienced this...

  18. 12v71Ti raw water exhaust discharge tee? Do you know what these are?

Hi All, Does anyone know the name of these? Do you have a source for them? Are they repairable? Both of mine are starting to drip/leak at a couple of the welds. They split the raw water to head out both risers and have a fitting for an additional small heat exchanger. Thanks for any help. I'm at...

  19. Rocket Launcher Build

My daughter and SIL's Stamas is a bit shy on rod holders, so I built them a rocket launcher for Christmas. The basic build was done in time for the holiday, but I just finally got the varnishing done last weekend. It has around 13 - 14 coats of Epiphanes High Gloss on it. Started out with a 3'...

  20. Is the Differential on the Honeywell Thermostat (T6052B) Adjustable?

The Cruisair unit in our master stateroom works...but, when in heat mode it gets too warm and then too cold. (Have not had the opportunity to test the AC yet, it has been too cold!) I have been reading through a lot of the threads here on the forum that talk about these old Honeywell thermostats...
