  2. New Electronics for Ambrosia Mae - Thanks Scott

Well, I finally bit the bullet and bought new electronics for the boat. I've never been a big fan of Simrad, and the EVO2 system that came on the 45C I bought last December did not change my opinion substantially. It's not terrible, but not great. So, with a great deal of help from Scott...

  3. Replacing vinyl window spline

Once removed what is the best way to replace the new vinyl window spline into the groove in the aluminum frames? The grooves are clean and free of any old sealants/caulk but I'm having trouble getting them to insert. Any ideas on using windex, liquid soap or other slippery fluids? Thinking about...

  4. Porthole screens replacement

On my 1980 Hatteras 37 Convertible I have four dental portholes which were (I believe originally) fitted with screens. They were made from two layers of thin plastic frames (matching colour of the porthole frame) sandwiching a single layer of plastic mesh/screen. As can be seen on the attached...

  5. Battery fusing

Starting to clean up some wiring issues, and am not sure how to proceed with the following, which is a survey recommendation: "Install over-current protection in positive battery cables close to batteries in the form of slow blow fuse rated for wire gauge. All other wires should be taking off of...

  6. cleaning heat exchanger circuit

After my port engine was damaged, repaired with new parts, I found it runs a bit warmer than the stbd. To be sure, the water temp here is 85F, but I'd like to bring it down to what the stbd engine runs at. So I'm getting ready to flush the system- made up a new bucket and pump kit, etc. When I...

  8. New fridge, new wall

I just installed a new Fischer and Paykel Refrigerator and decided to trim it out with a wall on the inboard side. I've seen this on other 53's and liked the look. It gives more of a "built-in" look. It still needs a few more coats of 704C but it should turn out pretty nice.
