  1. Jabsco Impellers

This week I ordered my replacement Jabsco Impellers from Depco Pump Company in Clearwater, FL. These guys were very helpful! The impellers that I needed for my DD 671N's were $22.32 each. Cost from local DD dealer was $54.00 each. Cost from Boaters World was $33.00 each. So even with shipping...

  3. Rusted Bolts

My 1985, 32’ Hatteras has rusted bolts on what appears to be stringer-like supports in the aft bilge, just forward of the transom. The 32 Hatt has prop pockets on each side. To the inside of the prop pocket is this triangular shaped support that looks like a stringer of some nature. It angles...

  6. Building a fuel polisher-How to...

I am constantly going through racors on my 892N's, when i bought the boat there was about 300 gallons of diesel that had sat for well over a year. The fuel is black, and I treated it with PRI-D. Before I go out and burn this anymore than I have to, I would like to install permanently a fuel...

  7. CO2 OK? Nope!

Per Doug's posting on the "halon ok" thread, I checked out Brigadoon's CO2 system today. I disconnected the head from the bottle and heated a sensor with a heat gun. NADA. That's right, the automatic system that I ASSUMED was fine because the bottle was weighed/tagged, wouldn't trigger. For...

... selling Gig.... Yeah, I know, "say it isn't so." I think it is so. I'm not sure if I'm headed more towards an LRC or a Nordhav'n yet for longer-range (e.g. "big boat") stuff, but the sportfish just isn't making as much sense as it used to for me. Most of this is because we haven't...

  9. taken a fall onboard.

Left last Wed. to make the trip up the St Johns River on a 5 day trip. The idea was, I would leave a day early, the Admiral and 2 of our grand kids would meet me in Lake George on Thursday from where we would go to Silver Glen and spend 2 days. I anchored up for the night and woke up early...

  14. Cutless bearing removal

After much investigation, I have found that my starboard side vibration isn't a loose or broken wall tab, but a cutless bearing. 15. Cooling system/Intercooler cleaning

If there's a world-wide shortage of silicone, it's because the previous "mechanic" on Brigadoon bought it all and used it on the engines... I pulled the port intercoolers (8v71TI) yesterday. Pulling them was pretty easy as one unit, just four bolts and the hoses to the water/turbos/air horn. ...
