  1. Epoxy primer question

Over the winter I bought an older 13 foot Boston Whaler dingy to use around the bay this year. It's in great shape except that the bottom paint is almost completely gone. Once I remove what's left do I need to put an epoxy barrier coat on before I paint the bottom or can I just paint it. I don't...

  2. Smile Spring Paint Touch ups

Gents, I am new to Hatteras yachts and was wondering if it is a regular ritual for all Hatteras owners to touch up the paint in various spots to maintain the integrity of the coating. If so, is this something that can be done by a non-professional with a bit of practice. Appreciate your thoughts....

  6. gauge replacement Questions...

Have a 1965 41DC with 426 Chrysler Wedges. I need to replace a tach (SB tach doesn't go over 2000RPM) , 2 fuel gauges (1965 model gauge not compatible with new tanks), and a water temp (P side doesn't work... ) I would hate to see portion of the gauges to be original Hatt gauges, and the rest...

  8. Main engine vent covers

In purchasing a 67’ cockpit MY, my surveyor suggested that when the vessel is resting in its slip to cover from the inside of the engine room the vents on each side. He suggested it is like storing your vehicles in your garage with the roll up doors always open; that allows dust and other similar...

  9. Boatyard on Long Island Sound or north to fix watermaker

Our Sea Recovery watermaker went black on the way up to Sandy Hook and we need a tech to fix it for us. We had hoped to be independent of shore as much as possible this summer as we made our first trip to New England and having a working watermaker is essential. We are now in Oyster Bay and...

  10. Pressure switch for 32volt pump

I have a galley maid HTS Macerator Pump, it's brand new, one of the draw backs is it has to be primed. I have been told I can put a "pressure switch" on it that would not energize the pump until it was primed, hence "pressure switch". Anyone have any experience with this, its mounted on top of the...

  11. Vacuflush woes

I’m struggling with a Vacuflush problem. Last season my vacuum generating pump was cycling on very regularly – at least once a minute. The bowl seal was leaking, so I presumed that was the cause of the problem. Over the winter I rebuilt the toilet’s flush seals, ball, etc. and reinstalled the...

  12. Generator Hoses, Pump Leak and Shedding Issue

Aslan has one NL M844LW2.3 20KW genet with 1,230 Hrs., and she runs like a champ. The raw water hoses were getting a bit long in the tooth, so I picked up some new 3/4" wire reinforced exhaust hose for the seacock, strainer and pump run and some thin wall exhaust from the pump to the anti...

  13. Thermostat housings

Wondering if anyone has a source for the thermostat housings and thermostats for my old Chrysler gas 426's. I'm raw water cooled and the housings are looking pretty bad. Time to replace them while I'm out of the water for the winter.

  14. Micron 66 or Pettit Ultra 60

I went with Pettit Utima 60 last time, lasted 2 years. River is horrendous. I also think the previous diver had something to do with it as well. Will Micron 66 do better?

  17. Alternator Quite Charging

I rebuilt (seals) a racor today and after starting up I noticed the Alt/Gen not charging, I know its not related but I read on one of the threads that a stuck fuel pressure switch to the hobbs could cause this ? Gauge seems to be working indicating 32 when key on but not charging when motor...

  20. Cranking Amps Required For 12V71

Curious: What is the cranking amps (or watts) required for a 12V71 32 volt starter motor please? At the moment we have 4 x 180ah deep cycle golf cart batteries in series to start each motor. But they do not give CCA.
