  1. Trim Tabs...fixed

After my repower I noticed my boat had a slight list to the port and on occasion shifted from port to stbd. I looked all over the boat for water where it should not be, ect ect but found no clues about why it does this until I worked my way through the Bennett Trim tab system...which has been on...

  2. Trim with less than full fuel load

With my new found appreciation that it is OK to maintian fuel tanks at less than full (see fuel prices thread) I am now pondering the choice of were to keep / lighten the fuel ballast. With a 283 gal tank below the aft berth and 92 gallons in the engine room, will weight forward or aft be better? ...

  3. Trinidad SR over Hydrocoat SR

I am repainting my bottom this week and plan on using Trinidad SR over Hydrocoat. Pettit”s website says it is compatible with ”Heavy Sand and Apply”. Existing paint is not peeling. Any opinions or prior experience with switching to hard paint from ablative without complete removal?

  4. Trip Log without through hull transducer

Has anyone figured out how to obtain a trip log without having to install a through hull transducer? The two Northstar 952 GPS's I have on my 43 open have no trip log function and I would love to get an accurate idea of distance traveled, especially since a good deal of time is spent on the troll.

  5. Trip to Keys

I am planning a trip to the keys during spring break (March 16th). I'll be coming from Melbourne, down the ICW to at least Stuart. What's the best route from then on? Also, if conditions are good, isn't the ocean back pretty economical with the Gulf Stream?

  6. Trojan Batteries

It's time to replace the house bank (330AH Deka 8C6V Group 302 sweeper batteries). This is the highest capacity battery Deka offers in this configuration. I see that Trojan offers a similar Group 902 battery, but also offers a 435AH Group 903 sweeper battery (a few inches taller than the 902). I'd...

  7. Trolling at 2-3mph

What is the best method of trolling between 2-3mph with a HATT C, say 45-48 footer with anywhere between 425's to 720 HP's DD's? I ask because my understanding is these low rpm's are not good on desiels, so how should the boat be equipped or modified? Are there trolling valves available? What are...

  8. Trolling function operation

I’m trying to better understand the trolling function and how it operates. My 1997 74’ has trolling selector buttons as shown on the attached photo. Also attached is a photo of the page from my manual briefly describing it. I idle at 550 rpm which equates to around 5-6 knots in calm seas. I...

  9. Trolling mode not funtioning on 2005 Hatteras 54C

Hello Everybody: I have a 2005 Hatteras 54 Convertible, every time I engage the trolling mode (turn on the trolling switch) the transmision just goes to neutral an the boat stops, so I turn off the trolling mode switch in order to make the boat move again. I know that is not good to troll for...

  10. Trolling on One Engine

Not a newbie to Hatteras boats but to trolling. My 43 SX goes too fast when just in gear with both engines to troll for the local trophy fish (striped bass). I do not have trolling valves. So, when I troll on one engine, do I leave the other engine on but not in gear or off completely. I am...

  11. Trolling valve questions

I think I understand the idea behind trolling valves -- a way to release pressure on the engines turbo'd up for high HP that spend a lot of time at troll. I guess this is a must for charter boats that troll 1000 hours a year. What about for boats that will spend a few hundred hours a year...

Can anyone give the Cliff's Notes version of Everything you ever wanted to know about trolling valves and were not afraid to ask ? I have a 1985 45C w/ 6V92s and Allison gears and I can appreciate being able to attain ultra slow trolling speeds for live baiting, kite fishing, wreck fishing...

  15. trouble filling water tank on Hat 54

I read the thread about the tanks on the Hat 58. I have the Hat 54 (1987) and I tried to fill the water tank for the first time. All I got was the water on top of the tank. I checked the lines from the rail down and found everything dry fron the rail down to the top of the tank. The deck opening is...

  16. Trouble finding the old Imron 5.0

The last time I bought any Imron was in 2011. At that time it was no problem. I just walked into the paint store and ordered it. This time, they looked up the paint code and told me that there was no cross from 67766X for the new Imron Industrial. But, maybe (a big maybe), they might have...

  17. Trouble getting RPM up

Up to this year I've never run my 46 with 8/71s rpms up over 1800 but since my last discussion on this forum I've been cruising at 2000 and the boat runs great between 20 and 22 mph. I was able to get the RPMs user 2300 for a test but this weekend I axidently popped the starbord trans out of gear...

  19. Trouble shooting electronics

I installed a used Lowrance HD5 today. I connected it to power, ground and to my existing transducer. Only 3 wires. Blue black and shield wire. It originally worked both chart plotter and bottom sonar. Now bottom sonar is scrambled and no depth numbers. Any ideas on why it stopped. I have...

  20. Trouble shooting Princess stove
