  1. Wiring/lightng question- 110volt to 12volt AC... is this Hatteras Normal?

Hey guys, I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but you can't search the forum and after looking thru 10 pages (and getting really distracted) I don't see a post about this. I have a 1981 61' MY model (now 70') and I am trying to swap everything to LED and the craziest thing... I have...

  3. Detroit diesel closed loop cooling questions

    1) what level should I fill the cooling water reservoir tank up to? I have given different answers. Fill to the top or fill to about an inch (1/2 of index finger) to the top?2) my delivery captain told me to fill the reservoir with water. Shouldn’t I fill with 50/50 water and antifreeze? Or maybe...

  4. Water leak from bridge into the salon on 1979 53YF

I need to fix a leak into the salon. Looking for some guidance on this, as I am a new owner of a 1979 53' Hatteras YF. At the end of last year, it was showing a leak into the salon from the bridge. Issue may have started from the bridge not being shrinkwrapped in previous years, which allowed heavy...

  5. Generator Replacement

The old 15KW Onan is still working fine but anytime it so much as sputters I clench up thinking about what just could have broke. It's a great generator but the parts availability is about to make it impractical. And its loud. It's Very loud. I re did the sound shield with soundown and it's...

  7. Wits end

Good morning Some of you already know about my electrical issues on my 1975 64 ft m/y. It has US wiring and was also wired for european use. I hired a electrician #1 He spent 3 hours looking at it and decided he didnt want to mess with it. Electrician #2(wards marine service) said they would...

  8. Onan generator starter

Struggling a little bit. I have an Onan 15.0 marine genset onboard my 1994 48’ Hatteras cpmy. The starter for the genset is having trouble engaging the bendix. I haven’t torn it apart but completely expect that the gear is worn. Hopefully not the flywheel. Does anyone know a source for a starter...

  9. Ok I give up what is it ?

Subscribing to the theory that everything is done for a reason…what are these posts sticking out of the top of the shower doors. I assume these are original all three baths have the same doors . I’m guessing it had some kind of mechanism or latch to keep the doors from swinging closed when they’re...

  11. A/C Raw water pump size

Anybody know what the factory raw water a/c cooling pump flow rating is? I have a shipyard telling me that the current units are undersized and that I should increase the flow rate. I have a 1988 67’ CPMY. Thank you

  12. Pulled the Onan Generator // put this off toooo long

It rare that I turn off my cell phone but I did and missed the txt at 8AM that they are pulling the generator out today (a week early). Then at Noon I got this wonderful photo. I put this job off because I could never find someone who wanted to deal with that removal, and it was too big for...

  14. Jabsco raw water pumps

A couple questions for the forum. Has anyone replaced the cover plate’s slotted style screws for studs ? Seems a better method overall having studs where a nut is easily torqued to spec and installing gasket, cover etc. any reason not to install silicon bronze studs? Spline lubricant. ...

  16. No good deed goes unpunished

Getting ready for our trips I figured I’d change the generator pump out for a new one I bought a year or two ago so we start out fresh. Start up yesterday to test and all is good. Arrive at anchorage today and I noticed light steam from exhaust. And not enough water. I have the original pump ready...

  17. Hard wall exhaust hose or silicone

Time to replace these short sections of hose on the raw water inlet pipe. Hard wall will be much more supportive but silicone will be easier to work with if I need to remove the pipe…like for impeller replacement, currently pia . Six of one, half dozen of the other or is one choice a clear...

  18. Maxwell windlass install

I’ll break from my laziness on posting pics and give a decent few on this project. First pic comes with a question. The photo shows the 3/4” windlass lifting block and the 1.5” chain stopper lifting block. This is pretty much all the space I have within the rode locker and the rear most bolt of...

  19. Delo 100 online?

Anybody buying Delo 100 through an online retailer? My local DD is crazy priced for the old delvac at $45 per gallon. Oriellys auto parts at $25 seems the best game in town for gallons but I'd prefer 5 gallon pails. BTW just fueled from a truck with offroad at 3.77 gallon, not bad.

  20. Mask Yea or nay

I painted the vertical supports between forward glass, corners to side glass, and between side fixed panel and sliders to update the look a bit. The bright white, to me, was too much contrast between the grey tint on side glass and even the clear glass of the forward panels. Too modern for an...
