  1. Anyone know what the purpose of these 6' long cabinets might be?

There are 2 of these near the aft door. 6' long, 3' high, about 4" wide. Has a latching door on each. I don't really want them but don't want to get rid of something that has a specific purpose. Any ideas of why these are on my boat?

  2. 53 My with Pipe Welders davit, make it taller?

Last year I went through the exercise of building a lifting bar to lift a 13' Whaler on to the top deck. I unfortunately flubbed my engineering bending moment calculations and it bent on me LOL. (The issue was a lack of lift height using lifting straps, need about 2' more lift roughly.) So...

  5. Wits end

Good morning Some of you already know about my electrical issues on my 1975 64 ft m/y. It has US wiring and was also wired for european use. I hired a electrician #1 He spent 3 hours looking at it and decided he didnt want to mess with it. Electrician #2(wards marine service) said they would...

  6. Bulkhead Construction

So a sort of tangential issue to my boarding lights problem has come up. Can someone give me an idea of how the bulkheads - specifically in the salon area - are constructed? I'm likely going to need to fish new wires through the walls and I can't wrap my head around how they're put together. ...

  7. Scott B, saved my butt again.

Yesterday, we were out on the hook for the 1st time in a few months (a number of repairs and upgrades being done) and had an issue with my Victron Multiplus not charging properly. About 3 weeks ago, I had updated the Firmware on the Cerbo, Multiplus and BVM. Didn't notice any problems as the...

  8. What do you use for panel sealent

The good news is that I got about 2 hours or cleaning and fixing done today, the bad news is that I did it over 5 hours. I am installing Starlink on the arch where the old glomex TV/radio antenna was. I got the cable ran through the arch, then down the pipe with the AC duct into the cubby hole in...

  10. Anyone have a list of LED bulbs for 54' EDMY

We have a lot of lights out on our boat. I want to replace everything with LED. Have found a few good posts about the process, but does anyone know of a list of bulbs specific to this boat? I don't want to pull all the bulbs, write down the model #s, then put them back in, then order, then...

  11. Floscan 236C senders, can they be opened and repaired?

Has anyone successfully dis-assembled their Floscan senders to diagnose and/or repair them? Are they gear drive or optical? My starboard engine is reading only 2.4v on both fwd and return senders and I think the mechanism inside may be "gummed up" or sticking. Other engine, the senders show...

  12. Type of Fitting on Power Steering

I have a 2002 65 Convertible and the pressure hose for the power steering burst last week. I have identified replacement hydraulic hose, but the fittings are the challenge. The prior items are marked 8FJXS which is a Gates stainless steel dual seat, 45 and 37 degree, fitting. These are hard to...

  13. 54' EDMY - Retractable power questions

Hello all, One of my first experiences on our new boat was with the giant octopus 50 amp shore power cables. These giant, obnoxious things sucked the life out of me and are pretty hard to store. My training captain told me about retractable cables. I did search the forums and saw a couple of...

  17. Engine start / stop circuit electrical drawing - late 80s

Can anyone please share a schematic of the main engine start / stop electrical circuit? My boat is a 1988 67’ cockpit motoryacht, it is very similar to 60’ motoryacht. I also assume that most of the boats of this vintage had a very similar arrangement - I know if I was the electrical engineer for...

  19. Anchors

Ahhhh the big debate..... Struggling trying to decide which anchor to buy. My Hatt has a Danforth onboard. I was also "given" a Delta anchor. I've had a couple of bad experiences with the Delta. It generally holds well but has cut loose twice on me and dragged. I'm not sure twice is enough to...

  20. 20KW generator recommendations

I have redundant 20KW generators - both 1988 Onans, with >6,000 hours on the clock and sound shields. While both run well, I’m dealing with a pesky heat exchanger leak on the forward gen where basic parts are near impossible to come across. It’s beyond time to replace at least one on the onans,...
