It was in my stb engine room by the pins would make me believe that it has to do with the boarding ladders. Sorry the pictures are sideways.

Two feet and the pins. Looks like it’s part of a boarding ladder or maybe a bracket to hold the ladder.

I have the same square aluminum bracket holding down my hot water tank, top and bottom attached with threaded rod. It doesn't have the pins on top.
see if it fits over your water heater

I couldn't get it over the pipes/hoses to use it as a holddown. 32146

That still doesn’t explain why there are two brackets from a Marquipt ladder on it.

Exactly. I spoke to a dockmate who said the original owner was a real tinkerer and had a lot of little custom things made up. I'm convinced this is one of them. I'll stick it in storage until I realize I need it. That's close to the throw it out and wait two weeks right?
